c L L E G E O Htm 9, 1986 RjutEi t a, On October 9, 1986 Buchtel High School hosted its first college fair in the Appleby Qymnasiurn. The College Fair included 26 universities and colleges across the state who sent their repre- sentatives to talk not only to Buchtel students but to students from other schools throughout the county. Overall, 25 seniors and juniors were selected as representatives from each individ- ual high school in the city and the surrounding area. From all indications, the fair was a complete success. More than 500 students participated. Ma Shriver and Jerry Ryan, as well as the pre-professional business and law classes, were instrumental in the setting up of the College Fair. Ms. Shriver said of this event. Although I was a little unsure whether or not we would get set up in time, it turned out to be even more successful than Id hoped. ' The representatives were treated to a reception in the Griff Inn before the beginning of the fair. A spaghetti dinner was provid- ed by Mrs. Eggleston s class. The college representatives provided such worthwhile informa- tion as campus life and financial aid. Senior John Tillman said, I thought it was a very good idea and it helped me a lot. I hope they have it every year. From the favorable responses by the representatives and those who came for information, it will definitely be an annual event.
