K g if 5 Z 5,9514 ' To Mr. Howard Reeves, our class sponsor, we the class of 1957 dedicate this book. As a class sponsor, Mr. Reeves has ably guided our steps for the past three years. He has instilled in us a loyalty to our school and a fine class spirit. Once an industrial chemist, he returned to the work he loves - teaching and guiding young people. Though an understanding and sympathetic teacher, he maintains definite standards which students willingly meet. The college performance of Buchtel graduates in chemistry is a tribute to his skill. The American Chemical Association, 1956, selected Mr. Reeves as the outstanding teacher of chemistry in this area. Respected by student and colleague, Mr. Reeves is regarded as a friend, a gentle- man, and a scholar. 5

Secf ion .X4CLll0ll!!0Jg0lYl efltj A yearbook--a dream fulfilleddbut the product of hours of planning, creating, studying, and working by the senior class. by Mr. Friedman, and by the Griffin staff, Our book was made possible by the persistent effort of the four ad captains, john Keltner, -lerry Meyers, Linda Swartz, and Mike Vlfadley. -lohn's weekly announcements permitted no senior to disregard his duty to the class. Kay Kroeger kept an accurate account of our financial status throughout the year. An exceptional feature of this Griffin is the cartoons done to perfection by Bob Postma. The liners and the class ballot are examples of his skill and creative genius. klack Liberman created the Griffin page and the dedication sketch, and along with Arlene Cohen, produced a fine ad section filled with novel illustrations and picturesque advertisements. The task of preparing the senior write ups, class prophecy, and the class history was committed to l,inda Brown, Rita Howell, and Dale Uessire who have made the personalities of our class live for years to come. This Griffin had the valuable photographic assistance of Carpenters Studio. Mr. Carpenter was always willing, even at a moments notice, to take the fypff of picture we desired. Mr. Leahy, representative of the lnter-Collegiate Press, solved many of the technical problems which confronted and confounded us in producing the book. None of this could have been accomplished without the driving force, the encouraging .word, and the inspirational counsel of our Mr, Leon Friedman. Nlay all our readers enjoy these pictures and these words now and evermore -f five. ten, twenty years from now. And may all my staff love and cherish each printed page forevermore.
