Jl fif Q Hall l s O u . it ACKNOWLEDGMENTS .. lt Takes a great deal of work for a yearbook such as this to become a reality. It is the culmination of dreams, plans, trials, errors, and decisions. Many people have combined their talents to produce your T955 Griffin. The personality of the Ad Manager, Olga Zaremba, was a valuable asset to the Griffin. Her perseverence in rounding up advertisements made it pos- 'able To publish a book of this size, and allowed us to incorporate in it many special effects. Working with Olga were Barb Frost and Hugh Tucker, these three handled the finances with alacrity, although the outook was not always bright. Carmie Guistino and Ed Regal of the Treasury Staff kept our Iedgers. An outstanding feature of this Griffin is the artwork, Sue Aungst, Barb Bos- wick, and Mark Gerphide created it. The class ballot is an excellent example of Barb's work. Sue designed the three impressive dance pages. The little caricature of the Griffin is a product of Mark's lucid imagination. Ed Rose and Ron Davis did the sport pages, introducing several novel ideas to enhance the section. Ron and Ed also lent their versatility to many of the odd jobs which plagued the staff. The tremendous Task of the senior writeups, class prophecy, history, and other creative writing in the book was entrusted to Beverly Magilavy, Sybil Foley, and Carole Carpenter. Their scintillating work expresses the true spirit of the class. The photography in this book is The combined effort of Sid Mendelson and O'Neill's Studios. Don Leahy, our representative of the Inter-Collegiate Press, spent many hours helping us solve the myriad technical problems encountered in producing the book. Working behind the scenes as our financial advisor, Mr. Biondo helped us struggle through the ad campaign. The cheerleaders and Dave MacDonald deserve special credit for boosting the ads. Above all, Thanks go to Mr. Friedman, our friend and advisor who gave us inestimable help and encouragement throughout the year. l hope this book will long be remembered for its originality and freshness, To all of those who are responsible for attaining this goal goes one big THANK YOU! DEDICATION We, the Senior Class of Nineteen Hundred and Fifty-five, dedi- cate this Griffin to our friend and teacher, Mr. Lister O. Weiss. His guidance, through the Student Government, has fostered the spirit of self-reliance and initiative that is required of the future leaders of America. Mr. Weiss has done much to instill in us a feeling of loyalty and respect for our school. He has spent many hours of work to assure the success of every assembly and social or athletic event. Those of us who have been in Mr. Weiss's classes fondly recall his disserta- tions on oofongs and Chinese pagodas, and those who know him only informally will never forget his friendly smile. He is truly a part of the Buchtel tradition which we will long remember. +
