1965 YELLOWJACKET BUCHANAN HIGH SCHOOL BUCHANAN, GEORGIA FOREWORD The Buchanan Annual Staff has put together a book that we hope will convey to you some of the happy times and also the hard mo- ments of our School. The Senior Class of 1965 has enjoyed the happiness that it has found in this school. We hope that when the teachers reminisce in the future years, there will be some little incident that will bring a smile to their lips and a chuckle to their hearts. And may the stu- dents in the years to come, see a part of the work our class has done and remember us with kind thoughts. Our thanks go to the teachers for preparing us for the future and to our parents for rearing us with love and kindness and for giving us a chance to better ourselves with an education. BECAUSE WE ARE GRATEFUL We, the Yellow Jacket Staff of '65, wish to express our sincere appreciation to you. Miss Head, for your faithful support and advice which has made this yearbook possible. You have been a devoted teacher and friend to us and all students as well. Again, may we say Thank You for being a wonderful yearbook advisor; for without your help this yearbook could never have been published. SENIOR CLASS ALMA MATER B.H.S. our Alma Mater To our vows of love To ourselves and to each other Faithful friends we'll prove. High School days are swiftly fleeting Soon we'll leave these halls Ne'er to join another meeting 'Neath these hallowed walls. Faithful, loyal, firm, and true Heart bound to heart we'll be Year by year the ages through Till in Heaven we meet. MADISON M. SANDERS Superintendent County Board Local Board PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE This is a book of memories. As you look at this book in future years may all your memories be pleasant. Congratulations to the Annual Staff for a job well done. May those in the fu- ture do just as well. To those that are leaving, the Seniors of 1965, best wishes to each and every- one of you. May you prosper in health, wealth, and wisdom. To those that will return endeavor to do your best so that when you graduate it may be said of you “The Job was Well Done”. Sincerely, ------- C. B. Calhoun QUOTES TO REMEMBER Sign on a high school blackboard: You must learn a skill or you won't know what kind of work you are out of. Frowning father to small son: When I was your age, I walked two blocks to the school bus every morning. What are young people coming to? Slowly, but surely, to the time when they will ask the same question. Reply from a student who was asked why we should do everything possible to prevent wat: It makes too much history for us to learn. We are all manufacturers in a way - Making good, making trouble, making excuses. There's nothing wrong with the younger generation that becoming taxpayers won't cure. Those who make the worst use of their time most complain of its shortness. The person who didn't get enough sleep last night always seems obscurely proud of the fact. In trying times, try. C. B. Special thanks to Mr. Calhoun for his assistance with the photo- graphy for the annual and his co-operation with the staff. Thanks also to Miss Head for her leadership and patience, to the faculty for their co-opera- tion, to the students for their support and interest, and especially to the members of the '65 Yellow Jacket Staff for giving their time and ability to the publishing of this yearbook. It has taken hard work and a great deal of time and effort to prepare this edition of the Yellow Jacket. Although is is far from perfect, I hope that you, the students of B.H.S., will find in the future that it brings pleasant memories of high school days and the friendships made there.
