The school has reason to be proud of the softball team, as they wont through the season undefeated, winning two games from Winfield, two from Silex, and one from Elsberry The lineup was as follows: Weiman, Sb . Upton rf Booth, ss Rayfiold, Holmes, lb Creech, p Schaper, lf Brummell, sf Webb, 2b Harvey rf Harlan, sf Hechler Hasselfeld, of Creech Sb TRxCK For the 1940 track season four men who have won letters in track year, F. Harlan, two year, M. Hasselfold, one year, and J. Harvey, one year. April l6, the track temm went to Elsberry and were defeated by the score of 62-3 to 55. lhrvin Hassolfeld was high point man for Troy with victories in the high and low hurdles, and several other places. Merlin Brum ell was next with a viotory in the broadgump and several other places. As this was the first track meet to be held, they were not up to tho par. llthough we think that we made a rather good showing, we have hopes of doing much better at the later meets. we have two other track meets scheduled, one, a dual meet with Warrenton, Friday Aprll 19, the other being a conference meet held at Elsberry April 27 The Teams competing 1n this meet are: Hermar, Elsberry, Wright C1t5,AWarrenton, and Troy we plan to be in the best possible shape by this time and make 1 very good showinr in the conference meet. - I C. .
