Juniors host elegant prom Scott Riley ond Ellen Yow Senior Kurt Henricksen is dressed to seniors, were named 1966 the nines for rhe prom Prom king ond queen Although Stairway to Heaven isn't a new theme, the dus- ty rose and grey added a new dimension to rhe 1986 Junior-Senior Prom. The formol affair began or 8:00 p.m. on May 10 or rhe new Orchard Hills Country Club. Linen table cloths, dusty rose napkins, ond carnation bou- quets attractively decorated rhe tobies. While rhe bond Michiono ployed romantic music, rhe Sr. Joe River shone os the moon glistened over it. Students strolled the balconies overlooking rhe natural setting. Appetizing hors-d'oeuvre troys ond delicious pink punch were served throughout rhe evening. Two large skillfully pointed cokes were also served. Crowned king ond queen were Scott Riley ond Ellen Yow. while Robb Swem ond Cindy Best were honored os prince ond princess. Juniors worked long ond hord selling magazines, Valentine carnations, ond shamrock suckers to raise money for rhe elegant evening. A few days after the Junior-Senior Prom seniors ore given o list of ‘must-do's.’' Seniors who ore eligible moy take early exoms. This year those exoms began on Wednesday. Moy 28 ond ended on Friday. Moy 30. Bod weather mode studying o little easier for the seniors. But on Friday ofternoon the sun shone, inviting oil seniors to the beach. June 4 in the evening, the annual honors convocation saluted many seniors ond other underclassmen for their achievements. By Friday evening the seniors were ready to march one lost rime ot Buchonon High School with their friends ond relatives close by. The groduorion was held inside. The worm ond humid conditions did not seem to bother the seniors. Speakers Beth Hickok ond Jenni White, both of whom were also shored solufororions. addressed o filled auditorium. Michelle Burgoyne also added to the memories by singing o solo Cool Change.
