People uj met 6 GOAnn S W W(HAj 64 The 1979-1980 school year saw many honors brought to B.H.S., both academically and athletically. Although we had no state championship team as in past years, we had excellent teams in all the sports. The sportsmanship, teamwork, and individual expertise was the best it has been in years. Academically, we had S.A.T. scores above the national average; the assessment tests also were very high and showed Buchanan’s excellence. The Arts are not to be forgotten either: The fantastic play and musical, the division ones for both concert and symphony bands, and the fine performance by the cho- rus. All in all, this was a very interesting and satisfying year. itotgs u Alb 3 1 10 WotUw htoL 132 W¥, itsmortar is Lous, tkz watt is nzvzr jizrfzct somztimzs tkz tricks arz wzai somztimzs tkz mortal cracks c j-ttkougk tkz ura tkz tn icks marrzd witk tkougkttzssnzss tkz mortar turnzd to dust tt mag fatt to ruin tkz watt witt stowtg tz rzkuitt ufion that strong and tasting foundatu uhon tkz mzmorizs urz kad k zrz. I came to the U.S. just to see how the people here were and how their schools were. There is a big difference between a Dutch school and an American school. In the Netherlands you get nearly all the required classes in your freshman year. You keep those for three years and you choose out of those classes six classes that you like the most and you graduate in those. If you fail one class, that means that you fail the whole year and you have to do the year over again. We don't have semesters, so we have the same classes all year. I really enjoyed going to Buchanan High School, especially the classes like cooking (which I couldn't before I came), sewing, and Spanish. The schools here do a lot more for the Seniors. I really looked at it in amazement. It was really different, but I enjoyed every moment of it. 123 CkctMcb VARSITY: Row 1: Char Rifenberg, Carol Proud, Kelly Hand. Row 2: Melinda Lockey. We have a new name, new signs, but physically nothing else has changed. You will still find the same friendly people offering the same good service. Rossow Feed Mill Shrider Custom Cleaning This has been one of the best experiences of my life: working on the yearbook. For the past 4 years, I have put in many afternoon, Saturday, and summer vacation days into the book. It's worth it: to see the finished book is a really incredible feeling. Yearbook has really helped me grow personally; especially yearbook camp — fantastic! In closing, I would like to thank my fellow staffers and especially Mrs. Kulwicki for all the devotion, hard work, and love. This experience will be a strong brick in my life. I wouldn’t trade it for anything — No way.
