To enter this fairyland in blue, the couples stepped through a lattice archway bedeclced with musical notes and t1owers. Frank Fontano's Orchestra from Western Michigan University provided three hours ot dreamy music to dance to as the couples moved through the High School Gym which was so beautitully decorated. The unique Grand March was led by the otlhcers ot the Junior Class. The entire Prom was under the supervision of Elizabeth Moore and Sharon Stelter. This team had a good year with six wins and three losses. This was quite an improvement considering that as an eighth grade team they won only one game. Coach D'Agostino's team showed marked improvement as the season progressed. A good proof of this was the second Niles clash which the Buck freshmen won after losing the first one 36 to lO. These boys will comprise next year's reserve team and the future varsity. lt can be said that if this team continues to improve as it has our basketball future looks bright. BACK ROW: Tom Seager, Max Bush, Bob Neal, Art Wallace, John Kar- pinski, Gary Groat, Barrie Blood, Dick Rossow. Fourteen boys comprised Coach Montgomery's successful 8th grade basketball season. This year's team record was seven and two. The boys, after winning the first five games, had a rocky ending. Despite this, the talent on the eighth grade squad looks good for the future. Nineteen boys comprised the seventh grade basketball team. Coach Kanga's team won three games while losing two. Buchanan lost both the first and last game. The high point of the season for the seventh grade was the 21 to 19 victory over Berrien Springs in the final seconds of the game. This team had fair height and showed plenty of promise for the future. This team is coached by Mr. Harold Pendley, a former wrestler for Michigan State University. High school and college wrestling is much different from that seen on television. lt is a sport consisting wholly ot bodily contact, but holds that apply pressure or may injure a participant are illegal. A wrestler must be in top physical and mental condition since a match consists ot six hard minutes, and he must be able to execute many different holds. Conditioning is one ot the most important points ot wrestling. Since there are twelve weight classes, a wrestler must work hard to main- tain his weight and remain in the weight class in which he does the best iob ot wrestling. This year the Buchanan team has wrestled eight matches with the teams of Portage, New Carlisle, Dowagiac, South Bend, and St. Joseph, plus the tournament matches that are held in East Lansing in March. Everyone is greatly encouraged by the progress the team has made since the season started and is sure that wrestling is here to stay. We would like to thank the faculty, student body, and townspeople for the support they have given us.
