We members of the Senior class of 1954 look back now to our first year in Senior High. Everything was so new and fascinating that before we knew it, we found ourselves deep in our Senior year. These ycars have brought many fond memories. Our First annual Memorial Day beach party was held in our freshman year. Friends, Romans, countrymen --Seniors, do you recall our struggle through Mlulius Caesar in our sophomore year?P Our junior year was a lively one!! A few of the high lights were: the play, The Beauty and the Beef , dances, parties, and the best Iunior-Senior prom ever- The South Seas. As Seniors, we immediately started preparation for a very memorable year. One of our first major de- cisions concerned our Senior Trip, which proved to be the high light of our Senior year. The splendid pro- duction of our Senior Play, Our Hearts Were Young and Gay can be attributed to the combined talents and hard work of our entire class. To put the Finishing touch on our Senior year, we edited this 1954 PINES. In the years to come, we will all strive to be as successful in our daily encounters as we feel we have been in high school. We've had a lot of fun and hope the classes to follow have the luck and good times we have had. 38312 Portrait ReP0l'f Cards -Wm NWN New Years Eve i, ww Sc 5 W 'az' , 5, 3 ru S :ilfv an... . .. Music for the occasion was provided hy Kaye McKesson's Orchestra. Couples entered the room through an arch of palm trees and danced across a Hoor lighted hy colored rloodlights. A mural of an island scene hung on the wall, and in one corner of the room stood a straw refreshment hut. The stage represented the deck of a wrecked ship and the orchestra played from the deck. The Sophomore attendants, whose iohs were to take care of the lavors and refreshments, were dressed as island maidens and shipwrecked sailors. Secretary Glenda Smith, Treasurer Marlene Thomas, and Reporter Sally Kahn, enjoyed a very successful year. Besides our regular activities such as speedball, vol- leyball, softball, basketball, badminton, and ping-pong tournaments, we engaged in roller skating, an over- night, a potluck and a basketball and volleyball play day. A point system is used for the G.A.A. members who take part in the activities. A G.A.A. letter is awarded for 400 points, a pin for 800 points, a bracelet for 1200 points: and a pendant with a silver chain for 1600 points. Each year a small loving cup is awarded to the outstanding senior member of the organization. The cup is awarded on the basis of sportsmanship, understanding and co-operation.
