CLASS HISTORY OF THE SENIORS 1947 8: 48 Here IS a local account of the Sen1or Class of Bryson H1gh School The class 1S made up of th1rty s1x members young men and young women rang1ng from average to super Twenty one of the members are handsome and brave f1fteen are sweet and enchant1ng Through our school years many classmates have come and gone Only e1ght of the or1g1nal 1937 f1rst grade class of Bryson are grad uatmg They are Ruby Gl1dewell Sue Cullers Jean Flnnle Marguer ette Helvey B11ly Gross James Denn1ng Wayne Logan and B11ly Ho gan Others Jo1ned our class through our grade school years 1n the second grade Verna Coley Gordon Sm1th and Charles B1rdwell 1n the fourth grade Tomm1e Caldwell Guy Horn J J A Kee and John Butler 1n the s1xth grade Var1na Ann Grayblll 1n the elghth grade Charles Eller We entered h1gh schoolas t1m1d freshmen w1th b1g 1deas of sett1ng school records and goals the l1ke of wh1ch had never been equaled before Our f1rst h1gh school add1t1ons were John Eason Donald Cook Delt George Jr and D S Logan Our Sophomore year was not especlally outstand1ng but brlngs our new members The Junlor year IS most outstand1ng 1n our memory as lt was a very successful year Of paramount 1mportance was the Halloween Carn1val our play AuntSus1e Shoots the Works and the western styled Jun1or Sen1or Banquet Our class add1t1ons th1s year were Irene Hasson, Jack1e Ratllffe Earlene Wells Melba W1lton Robert Teague S F Damron and John Frank G11more At last we are Sen1ors and now our greatest step toward our goal 1S about to be reallzed as we are nearlng the end of our graduat1on James B1rdwell J1mm1e Matlock and Donald Starnes Jomed us th1s year Three other members came 1nto the class at m1d term M11 dred Stonemen Faye Crum and Mary Thurman Outstand1ng events of the year have been our play The Ready Made Famlly the Sen1or Vaudev1lle N1ght and our tr1p to the Ice Capades Next Sprlng probably the f1rst week school 1S out we plan to take a tr1p As yet we are undec1ded as to Just where we w1l1 go but lt W111 11e between Galveston and New Orleans C -I ' , 5 . . OUR ESTATE IN TRUST The members of the Sen1or Class of 48 of Bryson H1gh School be 1ng of unsound m1nd of weak heart and be1ng on the verge of departmg for realms unknown do make, publlsh, and declare th1S our last w1ll and testament Art1cle 1 Hav1ng spent all our money on Sen1or Class r1ngs com mencement 1nv1tat1ons and rental on graduat1on gowns we are 1n bankrupt c1rcumstances We earnestly pray that we shall have enough fr1ends to take care of all our debts left at the soda fountams, our l1brary f1nes and any other unpa1d obl1gat1ons Art1cle 2 We had 1ntended to leave all our brarns and knowledge to the Freshmen of next year but on second thought reahzmg the Sopho mores would treat them rough at the beg1nn1ng of another term we have dec1ded to place them 1n safekeepmg, and so request that they be left to the .Tun1ors Art1cle 3 Donald Ray Starnes w1lls h1s athlet1c powers together Wlth all h1s medals to Davey Nunley Art1cle 4 To the worthy super1ntendent of th1s school we leave all the good thoughts that assembly speakers have attempted to pass on to us We full of amb1t1ons have no room 1n our alreadytoofull heads for these thoughts Th1S bequest 1S made to the super1ntendent w1th the k1ndest of cons1derat1on and after much del1berat1on He can use them All our other worldly belongnlgs cons1st1ng of notebooks, penc1ls athlet1c records and many other thmgs too numerous to ment1on 1n cludmg all the scholastlc and other honors we have ever had we d1rect the executor of th1s w1ll to sell at publ1c auct1on the proceeds to be used to bu1ld a sw1mm1ng pool Art1c1e 5 James B1rdwell and S F Damron w1ll the1r bookkeep1ng workbooks to some poor Jun1or who takes bookkeep1ng next year Iack1e Rathffe w1lls Donald Pr1ce to any .Tun1or gxrl who w1ll have h1m Charles Hudman w1lls h1s energy and h1s ab1l1ty to get to class on t1me to the Jun1or class also h1s old black moccas1ns 1f they w1ll f1t anyone J1mm1e Matlock w1lls h1s loud mouth to Austm Bruce Alva Nell Crumpton w1lls her talent of blow1ng bubble guxn to B1lly Chasta1n I W Kee bequeaths h1s great bu1ld to Kenneth Lacy It g1VeS Irene Hasson great pleasure to w1ll her mus1cal ab1l1ty to Kay Culmore To Dav1d Nunley, Charles Eller leaves h1s w1ll to work for talks in faculty meetings.
