For Yesterday sowed the seeds ot Today, and Today those of Tomorrow Time alone reaps the harvest, and deals penuriously with those who would borrow As with the rise of a harbinger sun, great astral bodies scatter So we pass in our ephemeral cycle, become pertinent to earth and matter, lf we, in the course ot our limited span, leave but a print on the sands Neither Time nor the Ages can erase, the marks left by mortal hands What then, shall we mark tor the Ages, for the yet unthought of seed? A page in history, and bloody, or a warrior's intrepid deed? No, leave them one vermilion sunset, captured by a neurotic brush Or the stirring of vernal things in music, stolen from the breast ol a tlirush. BERNARDINE R, NlcCRUDDEN
