By this, our dedication, may vve, the Class ot l946, in some small measure show our contrition tor the vvoes we have caused him and the attectionate esteem in which vve hold him. For Yesterday sowed the seeds ot Today, and Today those of Tomorrow Time alone reaps the harvest, and deals penuriously with those who would borrow As with the rise of a harbinger sun, great astral bodies scatter So we pass in our ephemeral cycle, become pertinent to earth and matter, lf we, in the course ot our limited span, leave but a print on the sands Neither Time nor the Ages can erase, the marks left by mortal hands What then, shall we mark tor the Ages, for the yet unthought of seed? Ld: The Avenue of Trees Eighty Eighty-one So YEARS OF SHORTHAND PROGRESS S l946 marks the 50th year in the history of the Gregg Publishing Company. During that period of time GREGG SHORTHAND has made phenomenal progress. Today, it is the shorthand system that is: 0 Taught EXCLUSIVELY in more than 96 per cent of the public and private schools and colleges in the United States offering instruction in shorthand. 0 Selected and offered by the U. S. Armed Forces Institute, the United States government school serving all branches of the armed forces. 0 Used by Martin J. Dupraw, the world's champion shorthand writer, and by an incalculable number of successful reporters, stenographers, and secretaries in cities and towns throughout the country. 0 Supported by an extensive program of basic and supplementary textbooks, teachers' aids, and professional books and monographs dealing with every phase of teaching, learning, and using shorthand. The progress of GREGG SHORTHAND is reflected in the intrinsic merits of the system-the ease and efficiency with which it is learned and used-in the variety of teaching materials and services available to instructors, and in the enthusiasm and effectiveness with which teachers themselves have taught the system. Throughout our 50'-year history it has been our dominating purpose to help teachers, students, and practicing reporters, stenographers, and secretaries obtain superior results with GREGG SHORTHAND. That same purpose will continue to guide our program of shorthand publications and services.
