She became an active and cheerful person who took part in various activities. Some of her activities were Rosary Altar Society, Jolly Girls and Hoosierettes 4-H clubs. In the eighth grade, she was runner-up in the county spelling bee. While attending Bryant, she was a member of the mixed chorus, pep club, and Tri-Hi-Y. Ruth passed away at Coldwater, Ohio October 31, i960 at the age of 16 after receiv- ing serious injuries in an automobile accident. She was a classmate of the 1962 seniors of Bryant High School. We will always re- member her in our hearts. A precious one from us has gone A voice we loved has stilled: A place is vacant in a home, Which never can be filled. God in His wisdom has recalled The boon His love has given And tho her memories slumber here Her soul is safe in Heaven. 12 A Junior ' s Theme: Class Ring ft :f% tt® .tfv taflV t ° cvtva V.aux L esli JAaV den . : £$$ Dwight Michael v Ua«iP President Barbara Orr Kathy Luedeke V ■- oft Eddie ;avUng, e Mail ene Goss fi ' iJ JVfoc ft 3 ? . f e nr ° r rr ' £ ii ce to m -u ij la ck Ca «e r ' J f M, atjoru Und, Sey £t « ! Yellin - good and loud! Judy Timmons and Penny Dennis Have their futures already planned Tommy and Jim had better run They ' re the ones the girls will land! The one I ' m thinking of next Is rather quiet, but smart I ' m sure you ' ve guessed by now It ' s none other than Dave Gierhart! Who is roddin ' in the loud white Ford With the red, red hair on top? It ' s none other than Jerry Guntle He ' d make a fire engine stop! A real nice girl in our class We all know her by Jo It ' s Joann Iliff, who else She ' s always in the know! In their first meet of the season, the harriers from Bryant won over Madison. The team from Bryant placed five boys in the first ten; the Hayden brothers finished first and second. Other Bryant runners were Les Hayden, 6th; Dan Montgomery, 7th; Dave Weil, 13th; and Bob Moore, 14th. They won their third straight meet in a row by defeating all the schools in the county except Madison. In this 5-way meet Earl Hayden upset Newhouse from Pennville, who had placed fifth in the Sectional meet last year and won his right to compete in the State Finals. The other four boys who finished in the top nine were Les Hayden, 4th; Ed Garlinger, 5th; Dan Montgomery, 8th; and Dave Weil, 9th. Bob Moore placed 11th, and Alan Campbell, 18th. Earl Hayden won this race with a winning time of 10:30. The Owls went on to win the Jay county cross country title for the third consecutive year. But this was a good warm up for our county league. We started the season with some young and inexperienced players. As the season pro- gressed we came up with some good games. We de- feated our rival Poling twice by the same score. A- nother real good game was when the Owls defeated the Bulldogs. This game we broke Newhouse ' s two No Hit game winning streak. The three top hitters on the team were Dan Montgomery . 333, Joe Huey 308, Dwight Michaels .276. The seniors lost from the team Jim Fraze, Curt Moore, Dan Montgomery, and Alan Campbell. J. W. I went to my locker - the door tight as a drum So I just beat it around ' til it opened up some. I yanked it open with lots of vigor And dressed in a hurry with a cold, cold shiver. I look to the right and see a beat-up heater The room is dirty and not much neater. There is no heat; we proceed with a plan To start a blaze in the old waste can. We dress in a hurry, get to the floor on time To hear the coach yell, Get on that black line! We practice real hard, take a shower of course And go home exhausted like an old workhorse. Gerber ' s Central Dairy - Bluffton, Indiana Pep Club Dave Weil Senior Ct titer Winners Campbell Danny Montgomery Senior Cheerleaders Lynn Orr 4 years School Days -50 51 - Snaps Class Mist cry In the fall of ' 58, thirty-two students entered high school. We bore the usual Green Freshmen tag. We discovered several new students among us. Ruth Muhlenkamp, Elizabeth Muhlenkamp, Bonnie Snow, Connie Trobridge, Pat Stults, Gene Wagner, Bob Wendel, and Steve Frye had joined us. W e lost Robert Armstrong, Dave Petschke, Rex Waymire, Kenny Miller, and Lanny Hammit. The most outstand- ing event of our Freshmen year was our Initiation. The seniors held a party for us that night to makeup for their cruelty during the day. As sophomores we looked forward to our getting class jackets. We were of course very proud of them. Joe Schmit and Mary Jane Kessler became members of our group while we lost Steve Frye to Co- lumbia City. During our sophomore year we had a beatnik party which was unusual but fun. Mr. Harris was our sponsor. Our junior year was full of work, work, and more work. We began earning money for our class trip. It seemed as if we were selling something all the time. Marvin Loy joined us this year. During the course of the year we lost Beverly Guntle and Ruth Muhlenkamp. Class rings were the subject of many con- versations. The class play was discussed quite frequently, too. Now as seniors we were ready for anything to happen. Grace and Gladys Lunn had moved to North Dakota. Gene Wagner moved to Celina, Ohio and Mary Jane Kessler moved to Lebanon, Ohio. We gained no additions this year so we had a grand total of twenty -six members. Our class play was a success and we didn ' t have to worry about earning money for the class trip. Most of us had decided to settle down and study hard. We went bowling for our class party. During the year we lost Judy Timmons and Marvin Loy. Twenty- four were left in our graduation class. Alumni Banquet, Graduation, and the class trip were topics of our discussions. It was all over now and several seniors were saying, I ' m glad it ' s all over . 52 Parade of Champions The word victory has been used in many conversations this year. Bryant is no longer a small dot on the map but a town where a winner came from. We feel very proud of these students and think they deserve recognition for their honors. On the following pages we present to you our Parade of Champions These band members are beaming because they won their first trophy last summer.
