LAUGHING IN THE FACE OF DANGER Class Prophecy After a busy season of outfitting the June brides and bridesmaids of New York society we tHazel and Dorothyl decided to close our P. M. Fashion shop on Fifth Avenue, and take a trip over the week-end. After packing our overnight bags we started out in our Piper Cub for England. .5 We arrived at the estate of Mr, and Mrs. Chester Knight. Mrs. Knight was the former Miss Betty Morgan. We found Betty in the best of health and very happy with her husband and three children. In the morning we started back to the United States and stopped at a small island in the Atlantic and found Bob Davidson was the owner. He farmed the entire island by push button so that he could get his needed rest. Since we had not seen our friends in the middle west for a while, we flew on to Detroit. We visited Delbert Flesher's flower shop and undertaking establish- ment, and ran across Betty Jean Smith. She said she had married a famous band leader and they had just returned from Hollywood where he had played in a movie, Heavcnly Hideaway, co-starring Virginia Craig and Rosco Hayworth. Betty Jean was buying flowers to send to Virginia Uptygraft, Republican candidate for president of 1956. Miss Uptygraft was resting up at the Fairview Hospital before her final campaign against Roosevelt. NVe went to the hospital with Betty Jean and found Jene Wendel there acting as head nurse. Jene told us that Wanda Pyle was also working there as a dietition. After visiting Miss Uptygraft we saw Royce Wright who was recently featured :it a local arena with his gang of dare-devil drivers. After the show Royce had the misfortune to slip on a bananna peeling and break his leg. Stopping in Ft. Wayne we looked around for a place to eat our evening meal and saw a large sign reading, Dine at Dyners . We went inside and found it was managed by our classmate. Eugene Dynes. In the morning we rushed out to Hoagland to hear a sermon by the famous Rev. William H. Orr. His subject was, 'Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not. Eccl. 1211. After this very inspiring sernirn we continued our way to Bryant. The next day we went to the Modern Beauty Shoppe and found Beatrice Kenyon, the owner, curling Bob Mastefs hair. Bob told us he was head of the Jey County Road Build- ers, Inc, He said that he had recently paved our old familiar lover's lanes. At Portland we saw Keith Gillespie on the street. He was going to the County Agent's ofhce tor information on feeding his new breed of hog, the bop- shire. We went :long with him and found the county agent was Leonard Dale. He said he enjoyed his work very much. When we arrived in New York we stooped at an air field. The field was cwned and Operated by Duane Dicksfn and Fred Haffrer. We also saw Richard Shawver there. He was getting his heilicopter refueled. He said he had been at traveling salesman ever since he had graduated from High School. We went back to our shop very well satisfied with our short vacation. - Jene Wtndel. Hazel Pyle. Dorothy Frank
