Many times during7 the year :1 staff member would stop what they were doing, sigh, and say,, 1f everybody ohly knew how much work it takes to make a yearbook. F ootball Spirit, unity, determination, and a desire to win combined to make the 1970 football team the best in the school's history. Under the direction of Head Coach Dan Haley, the Big Green Machine ground out an impressive record of 110-1. The only defeat was dealt by Elizabethtown during the state finals play-off. Up to that time, the Machine had defeated all teams on their regular schedule and had gained fame throughout the state as a tough opponent as they downed such highly ranked teams as Thomas Jefferson, Camp- bell County, and Corbin. Despite the cold weather, each win was a solid victory as BS. averaged 31.7 points per game, allowing their opponents only 5.7 points per game. The J.V. team, reflecting the depth and quality of the varsity team, recorded a 10-0-0 season for the year.
