All the work proved worthwhile, though, when they played to capacity audiences and received standing ovations every night. The story, based on the Dicken's novel, Oliver Twist, is set in Victorian England. It is the story of a poor orphan boy, Oliver, who turns out to be the grandson of a wealthy family. The story follows him from the Parrish Wtorkhouse run by the XWidow Comey and the town beadle, Mr. Bumble, t0 the undertakers, Mr. Sowerberry, tKevin O,Conn00. He goes from there to London where he meets the Artful Dodger and is inducted into the Thievest Kitchen by Mister Fagin. There he meets. all the low life of London-Nancy, Bet, Bill, and Fagin's Boys. Our group has 897a fewer cavities! uYou've got to pick a pocket or two, instructs Fagin as he inducts Oliver into the Thievest Kitchen. As a result they both lose their jobs. Back at the kitchen Nancy's conscience begins to bother her. She goes to see Brownlow and promises to bringT Oliver to London Bridge at midnight.
