Cheerleaders and Pep Club Stand Behind All Sports Leading cheers for the 1968 Defenders was not an easy job. The difficulties arose from such problems as rainy football weather and long, tedious, after-school practices. Although the job was hard, the cheerlead- ers succeeded in promoting spirit and supporting the teams. The girls were rewarded for their efforts when they received the second place trophy in the FORTY-THIRD DISTRICT BASKETBALL TOURNEY. The Pep Club aided the cheerleaders in a drive to boost school spirit. The club sponsored special skits at school pep rallies, several bonfires, and a motor- cade to the Lafayette game.
