Since his creation, man has feared - and been fascinated with- those things he could not understand. Fora quarter of a million years, he has wondered at the moon... worshiped it, and stood high on his toes, stretching to touch it. intellectuals theorized about it, the superstitious shunned itg the scientists studied it. For thousands of years man has dreamed about going to the moon. On July 21, 1969, after years of preparation, he finally realized his dream as Neil Armstrong of Wapakoneta, Ohio - a small town much like our own- touched it. l The small steps of the many who struggled ... wept... worked ... and prayed made this giant leap possible.
