N ive my lggarclti jo Moa wagn Under the direction of Miss Fowler we held meetings twice a month, gave skits and reports designed model stages and compiled scrapbooks. The important event of the year was the play, Pride and Prejudice. One special occasion was Mask and Sandal Thespian Night, at which the Thespian mem bers were inducted, next year's officers were installed, and Oscars were awarded tothe best actor best actress, best technical worker, and best all-round helper in Mask and Sandal. The officers for this year were president, Edith Bradford, vice president, Ed Corwin, treo surer, Connie Wiles, recording secretary, Alice Musser, corresponding secretary, Corrine l-lage man, and program chairman, Phyllis Mock. 50 cygricle ana! precguobceff This year the Mask and Sandal Club decided to try something different, so they chose Pride and Prejudice, a l7th century costume play, for their annual production, The play centers around the efforts of frivolous Mrs, Bennet to marry off her five daughters. She is so obvious in this that she scares off the rich and proud Mr. Darcy, who is attracted to her daughter Elizabeth. Darcy, who doesn't approve of the Bennet family, separates his friend, Mr. Bingley, from the oldest daughter, Jane, be- cause he feels that she wants to marry Bingley for his money. To add to the confusion, Lydia, who is only l5, runs off with Mr. Wickham, an irresponsible soldier. ln the end, Darcy overcomes his pride, Elizabeth forgets her prejudice, Bingley returns to Jane, Lydia marries Wickham, and everyone is happy. L45 unc! jeff, This year under the direction of Mr W F, l-lauger, the Senior Class presented Kiss and Tell. Corliss Archer, going on sixteen, is a trial to her family and friends, and at the same time a pure delight She can't stand not being grown uo. The trouble starts when Mildred and Corliss sell kisses for a worthy cause and Mildred is accused by the Archers of being a bad influence. This leads to complications that seem serious to the parties concerned, but are delightfully funny to others. Lennie marries Mildred in spite of the feud between the Pringles and the Archers, and Corliss has to be let in on the secret Then the Prungles, on what seems good evidence, gleefully inform the Archers that Corliss is going to have a baby. As a matter of fact, it is Mildred who is in that situation, and Corliss, sworn to secrecy, will not speak. This being so, the Archers and the Pringles take Corliss' silence as an admission of guilt. Not until the very end, how- ever, is Corliss cleared. Top Row: R. Ellis, J. Smith, Settles, G. Castor, lngle, Schaefer, I CHAI Mr Willard . Roger Ellis, Duane Thorpe Louise. ...... .. Rita Lo- mont and Phyllis Mock have three years of excellent service to their credit, Barb Bernheisel and Carmen Carlin, two, and Joan Goebel, one. Joan Mignery served as an excellent sub in the absence of Rita Lamont. Our lively cheerleaders were elected by the new faculty and representatives of the three upper grades early in the school year. They have worked long and hard under the leadership of Miss Rataiczak, the physical education teacher. New yells and new motions for old yells were introduced to the student body under these girls. A new group of Freshman cheerleaders was introduced to Bryan High School this year, Janet Reller, Jari- deane Himes, Sue Thiel, Eleanor Newcomer, and Mary Ellen Pteitter. The Junior High School Cheerleaders are: Mary Goebel, Joan Reller, Nancy Thiel, Charlene lsaac, awd Marsha Pickett.
