Laura Smith Versatility was the key to Laura Smith's contribution to Bryan Adams. Serving editor-in-chief of the el Crmquis- Lador, she was faced with the difficult responsibility of coordinating the stafffs efforts into a quality yearbook. She worked continually to organize an annual reflective of stu- dent life at BA. Laura also served in a journalistic capacity as a humor writer on the Senior Pub. She was also a two- year member of Quill and Scroll, serving as vice-president her senior year. Laura's enthusiasm and energy extended beyond her journalistic endeavors. She was active in LIFE Lab and helped direct the labs at Bryan Adams. An honor student, Laura was active in National Honor Society, serving as a tutor all three of her years at BA. Her academic excellence was rewarded as she was named National Merit Finalist. A member of the Math Club, Laura was also active in Mu Alpha Theta and the annual Math Synposium. She was se- lected as an ROTC sponsor her senior year, and she also participated as a two-year member in Synchfr Swim. The el Coriquislador is very proud to salute a student as deserving as Laura Smith. Talent in the fields of speech and mathematics made George Tarpleyfs contributions to BA valuable and 'diversi- fierl. As secretary of National Forensic League, he ac- cepted many responsibilities adding to the success of this organization. Working as assistant director of BA's annual speech tournament, George fulfilled obligations and con- tributed hours by the hundreds. The entire debate division of the tournament was under his authority. In addition to his great show of dependability. George did an outstanding job himself in tournament competition. By the end of only his second year on the debate squad, he had either placed or reached the finals in five tournaments. George's academic ability was as outstanding as his abil- ity in debate. An honors math student. he carried his achievements beyond his superior classroom performance and learned to use the computer with dexterity. He was also a member of the Math Club and Mu Alpha Theta. Be- cause Georgz-'s performance in other subjects matched this mathematical superiority. he was a two-year member of National Honor Society. The el Conquistador is proud to salute George Tarplcy for the sense of responsibility with which he approached all of his endeavors. George Tarpley 1 5 . N ar. 'NT 4:-4.5. X 'V' Q..

'xl lkal iv.,-iw .Ma r Kathy Clemens Time seemed to be no obstacle to Kathy Clemens as she performed her numerous duties at Bryan Adams. As Presi- dent of Math Club and Mu Alpha Theta, Kathy spent many February weekends planning and organizing the annual Math Symposium. Her work proved to be successful as the Symposium drew over two hundred students from area schools. Kathy donated many more hours as secretary-trea- surer of FTA. She worked closely with sponsor Mrs. John- ston and the other officers in compiling a scrapbook of FTA's activities to be presented at the February FTA Con- vention held downtown. As Vice-President of National Honor Society, Kathy contributed more of her time meet- ing with its officers and working at weekly meetings. She was also a member of Student Council, Spanish Club, Co- thurnus Club, and Senior Council. An excellent student, Kathy was one of the top students in every one of her classes. She donated her study halls for two years and served as a lab assistant in mathematics classes. Because of her outstanding citizenship and charac- ter, she was awarded the DAR Cood Citizenship Award. For these same qualities, the el Cortquislfulor takes pride in saluting Kathy Clemens. Always willing to lend a hand, Kenny Wolfe was in- volved in almost every activity at BA. ln the drama depart- ment, he denoted many hours and much energy to. this yearls productions. In keeping with his undy- ing spirit and dedication, Mike saw to it that everything around him was successful. As a result of his perfectly balanced combination of a sense of humor and a sense of responsibility, Mike was elected head cheerleader. The year's pep assemblies were made unique by his soul-socking chants of Rock and Roll and Groovy, groovy, groovy and his ever-famous impersonation of Professor Ricky Ticky Timble. Devoting long hours and lasting spirit to school memories, Mike served as sports editor of the el Conquistador. He was Pres- ident of Quill and Scroll, chairman of the All Night Party Committee, and a member of the Pub staff, senior play, Key Club, and National Honor Society. In all of these ac- tivities, his fellow workers vouched for the fact that things just werenlt the same when Mike wasn't therefi The el Conquistador is proud to salute Mike Stevener. An ability to create and carry through innovative changes became apparent in Shannon McCullar. As editor- in-chief of the Cougar Crossroads, Shannon led the staff in a year marked by changes greater than that of the name and style ofa newspaper. Undergoing a change in sponsor- ship when Mrs. Anne Gillespie moved, Shannon accepted full responsibility of listening to the ebbs and flows of Bryan Adams life. New philosophies, bussing, and liberal attitudes mixed with conservative rules made Shannon's job of presenting the truth about school life to students dif- ficult, but her journalistic abilities overcame the difficul- ties. Shannonis interests and abilities extended beyond her newspaper work. As two-year co-captain of Synchir Swim, the distriet's first synchronized swim team, Shannon spent at least one night a week working with the organization. She was a member of Cothurnus Club, Spanish Club, and Senior Council. Her journalistic abilities appeared again as she worked as a humor committee chairman on the Senior Pub and as a Vice-President of Quill and Scroll. Because of her numerous contributions to Bryan Adams, the el Con- quislador is pleased to recognize Shannon McCullar. Shannon McCullar
