COUNSELDRS OFFER PERSONAL, VOCATIONAL, AND ACADEMIC GUIDANCE What career best suits my interests? What college offers the necessary training? What tests must I take to enter this college? Guidance in answering ques- tions lilce these is offered by the counselors. Situations which keep a student from doing his best at school are also often improved by the counselors through consultation with a parent or a teacher. Seeing that the student takes all the subjects required for gradua- tion and for his chosen college or career comprises one of of the counselors' most time-consuming duties. Pittman, assistant principal, and Miss Sarah Carmichael, pupil-personnel counselor, share in the job of improving student attendance at Bryan Adams. Mr. Pittman counsels students who are ha- bitually absent, and Miss Carmichael often consults with parents to determine the reason for a pupil's truancy. Mr. Pittman also confers with applicants for work permits and supervises the requisitioning and issuing of all textbooks. The enormous task of keeping daily enrollment and attendance statistics is handled by Miss Carmi- chael who sends the required reports to the state ad- ministrators.
