Evaluating Excuses Checking attendance, signing admit cards and hall passes, and restraining a smile as she explains gent- ly to a student that while she is sympathetic she has serious doubts that his grandmother died on three succesive days and caused him to be absent without an excuse from home, Miss Carmichael is one of the busiest members of the administrative staff. In addition to the many details involved with keeping tabs on over three thousand students, Miss Carmichael counsels with students, listens to their problems, and still finds time to attend allmost every sports event and school activity. ALVIN R. WITHROW Directing Duties And Discipline Directing diverse student activities, deciding diffi- cult disciplinary questions, and handling dozens of other duties, large and small, are our two vice- principals, Mr. Alvin Withrow and Mr. Dearl Rich- ardson. Much of the responsibility for keeping the school running smoothly is theirs. Not only do they calendar the regular events and activities of Bryan Adams, but they also promote and arrange many special activities as well. Their administration of the program for parent conferences determines the rea- son and prevention of academic failure. This is one of their most important functions. Yes I thznk we wzll be ready for the walk through tomarrow We would like all students at school for the walk through. uiding Goals Sympathy, swiftness, and sharp analysis are some of the attributes which make the four counselors at Bryan Adams adept at helping students solve problems. Mrs. Lewis, Sophomore counselor, Miss Lively, Junior counselor, and Mrs. Windor and Mrs. Chamblee, Senior counselors, fill their days by giving advice to students troubled by personal prob- lems, in straightening out confused student schedules, in advising students on vocational and educational possibilities and requirements, and in offering many other services to students. My desk is a mess, just look at it.
