Grant Smith, has proved again thatit can handle its music with ease and at the same time enioy its selections. During the Christmas vacation, the chorus combined with the Greenwich Academy and Country Day Choruses to give the annual Christmas program at the Greenwich Country Club. The chorus also participated in the Christmas play, the Father and Son Dinner, and other school functions. Later in the spring, the Brunswick Chorus gave another concert at the Academy. Most of the credit for the success of the chorus must be attributed to Mr. Smith. In fact, it was necessary in a number of cases to ease up so as not to make the score look too one-sided . The team's great success this year, as in other years, should be credited to the excellent direction of the coaches, Ken Merritt and Joe Koszalka, and to the fighting spirit shown by the team. The backfield was made up of the co-captains, Dick Horsfall and George Zabriskie, along with Don MacCormack and Fred Steinberg. Playing on the first string line were Bozo Dandison, Stan Snyder, Terry Kelleher, John Glendening, Ralph Cobb, Eric Sandberg, and Mike Roberts. The fact that there were no serious iniuries this season fexcept for a broken nose, is far from meaning that there was a lack of fighting spiritor roughness inthe games. The play was hard and aggressive, particularly against Milford, which was the team's toughest opponent. The game with the Stamford J. V. 'S marked the official end of the season and was followed by the Football Dinner held at Manero's Restaurant. 52 At this dinner Varsity letters were awarded and some films of the games were shown. Don MacCormack and Fred Steinberg, the high scorer for the team with 70 points, were chosen co-captains for next year's team. lost from next year's starting lineup by graduation are the co-captains Dick Those boys who will be Horsfall and George Zabriskie, Bozo Dandison, Eric Sandberg, and Mike Roberts. In the final analysis we find that the ratio of points scored by Brunswick as compared to the points scored by our opponents is 4 to l. In no game was Brunswick in the lead by less than two touchdowns. The average number of points in a game for Brunswick was 32 as compared to the other team's score of 8 points. At the time this article went to press, the i955 Varsity team had given Coach Joe Koszalka a very impressive record of ten wins and one loss with one game remaining to be played, and it had won the League championship for the first time, having tied for the honor the last two seasons. The team was built around Capt. Eric Sandberg, 6-l, and Terry Keleher, 6-i, at the forward slots, Stan Snyder, 6-2, at center, and guards Jim Frick and Don McCormick. Other members of the squad to see action were Dick Hart, Chuck Zoubek, Fritz Schumacher, Bill Krauter, Neil Falby, and Brock Manville. Brunswick looked sharp in the opener as it trounced Daycroft 64-36. Jim Frick led the attack with 18 points. Under the direction of Mr. Murphy, the Junior Varsity team had a very successful season. The team was paced by the superior height of Feuchtwanger and Purser combined with the fine backcourt work of Bartle and Pearlman. Promising Bill Feuchtwanger was high-scorer with 126 points for an I8 points pergame average. With one game remaining against Rye on March 4, the J. V. Over the past two years Brunswick has shown remarkable skill and spirit on the field. The Bruins had a perfect record in 1953, including and unforgetable 3-2 victory over the West Point Plebes. This feat seemed to pave the way for the '54 season, as the team, with only one loss, was again crowned champion of the South- ern Connecticut Private School League. With seven of the starting nine returning, this year's team, spirited by captain Bo Dandison, should be one of the best in Brunswick's history. Judging from past experience and from Coach Merritt's knack of building a winning team, the T955 baseball season should be outstanding. The future looks even brighter with only Bozo Dandison and Dick Horsfall being lost by graduation. 59 wi L W QNX R YMWYQS W MXN www' X mm -4 fi if-ff M' . -NK 4 ,WVVNMU V nv ' 'XKIXX xxx , Nu 5 X X xx'- 1 1 , ,A 1 . 1'- f ,f ' ' , I ,rv na ,-'Qfsylq jf! Of even greater importance to the students will be an appropriate place to rehearse dramatics, debates and related activities. The new auditorium will provide space for four additional classrooms and is further evidence of Brunswicks expansion and the school's growing importance to the community it serves. 76 fwfwifiz f - 5 Q Ji' ff' C -qfv 'f1 :'-' Y?
