We are Seniors, and we are leaving. Leaving the school in which we have spent the last four years. Leaving the place in which we grew from a child to an adult. Since we are leaving, it is only natural that we glance back at what has gone before. It was early in the morning when we came to Brunswick High School for the first time. The sun shone down on the open door through which we would pass for the first time. Yet beyond this door, where the sun did not penetrate, was the darkness of the unknown. But as Freshmen, we plunged on, not a little afraid. This first year flew by quickly, as we took stock of our sur- roundings, met new friends, and started our trek through high school. Then came the never to be forgotten Sophomore year. Wise Fools indeed! Who needed to be wise? Everything was wild and exciting. For the first time we burst out in our new found strength. And so we rolicked through our second year at BHS, but it too went quickly. Our Junior year, as is natural, was slower and calmer. We all had learned a great deal in the previous year and were finally settling down. Maybe it was the fact we were upperclass- men or maybe it was simply the sober thought of what we are going to do with ourselves in the future. In any event, our third year slipped by quietly. Then finally, the greatest year of all. We returned in the fall to find ourselves Seniors! We sat on the top of the school and its organizations. Yet, this year has gone faster than any of the others. Our memories of it are blurred into one mad kaleidoscope of happenings, and we are far from being done. Before us lies Class Night, the Senior Ball, and most of all, Graduation. Yes, we are leaving. We're going through that door we entered four years ago. But it is evening now. Behind us, the school which we know so well is brightly lighted, beyond lies the darkness of the night. In this darkness is the uncertain future, but We readily go out, leaving the familiar behind, go out into the darkness, knowing the dawn is soon to come. --James Tierney I2
