Never before in these nineteen hundred and sixty-one years have teen-agers had life so great. It ' s a teen ' s world - to enjoy and to span! No longer are we limited to home towns and back yards. With the modern methods of communication now available beyond our door is the universe, and just around the corner is outer space. We are involved with the world whether we like it or not. We are its citizens, its makers, and its future rulers. Unlesswe ' re in touch with all corners of the globe, all areas of life, we ' re a square.” Never have teens had life so good, so special. Yet with the luxury of our economy we can become soft and lazy, or we can let it open doors of self -development for us. We can prepare ourselves intellectually, emotionally and professionally with relatively little dis- traction. Ours is the power to make dreams come true - to have the friends we want - the harmony at home - the travel away from home - the high grades - and high goals we want. At our fingertips are the works of masters to enjoy, to learn from and to profit by. At the snap of our fingers we can become lost in a world of Mozart or Benny Goodman, enchanted by Burns or Longfellow, cry with Shakespear or laugh with Mark Twain. We can walk the golden Roman Streets with Caesar or rule the English with Elizabeth. Or if we chose we can ride with an astronaut as he explores outer space, sit in on U. N. conferences or even twist with Chubby Checker ! Yes, the world is ours; all we have to do is make it worthwhile. FOREWORD IT ' S A TEEN ' S WORLD Patsie Matthews
