This year, the Beta Club assumed responsibility for sponsoring the 1968 VIKING. Many long hours of hard work have been spent by the Beta members, other willing, dedicated students, and the sponsors in the process of compiling this yearbook of memories. In the early days of summer, the VIKING Staff visited various surrounding towns and communities with the pur¬ pose of selling advertising space in our annual. Some days ended with full receipt books, however, other days ended with only headaches and tired feet. We are grateful, thougli, to our advertisers who helped to make the dream of a successful yearbook become a reality. Selling ads was a relatively simple task compared with what lay ahead. We little realized that we had merely laid the groundwork from which the rest of the structure was to be built. After school opened, pictures had to be made, subscriptions sold, layouts drawn, and copy written in order to begin the assemblage of a yearbook which we hoped would give the best editorial and pictorial account of past events. To record a year of events as diversified as those that take place at the Academy is a monumental task. However, it is with a deep feeling of pride that we present the VIKING for 1968.
