Faculty and Personnel The Brownwood High School Faculty and Personnel are composed of unusually outstanding men and women, twenty-eight of whom have Master ' s degrees, and eight of whom hold Bachelor ' s degrees. There is also one Registered Nurse. Being so highly qualified, these people are able to help, guide, and lead us toward better roads of citizenship and scholarship. Through their varied interests, training and experience we are enriched personally. May we thank them now and later for all their patience, humor, and - yes - even for their sternness. To illustrate the variety of activities and honors our faculty have had, we shall enumerate some of the most prominent. There are fourteen Sunday School teachers, and fourteen others actively work in various church offices and organizations. Sixteen belong to lecture and musical groups, and two others participate in theatre groups, while eleven work with service clubs in the city. Nine belong to the American Association of University Women, and eight to Delta Kappa Gamma, an honorary organiza- tion for women teachers. Five belong to other honorary fraternities, and others do service with the Busi- ness and Professional Women, Girl and Boy Scout groups, the American Legion, Brown County Heart Association, Crippled Children ' s Society, Texas Graduate Nurses Association, and the Medical Auxiliary. Honors for serving as leaders in district and state educational groups have been bestowed upon our teachers. They have held offices in science, industrial arts, social science, curriculum development, and English organizations. Small wonder we are proud of our faculty. Mr. Carl Arnspiger B.A., M.E. Lamb Principal of Brownwood Junior High School Mr. Lamb is a genial principal who enjoys the friendship and the loyalty of both the faculty and stu- dent body of the school in which he serves. This is partly the result of his practice of the philosophy that the individual more nearly develops to his highest potential when he is allowed as much personal freedom as he is capable of using. At the same time he stands ready to counsel where the individual needs guid- ance. Even his necessary discipline is meted out in such fairness that there is no loss of individual dignity. His educational background is broad and varied. He is a graduate of Howard Payne College, and he holds a Master ' s degree from the University of Texas. His experience includes instructing at the Univer- sity of Texas, teaching Math and History in the Smithville, Texas, schools, administering the visual aids program in the Brownwood schools, and acting as principal of Brownwood Junior High School since 1947. He is affiliated with all of his professional groups and is Co-ordinator of District XI Texas Association of Secondary Principals. He was a member of the House of Delegates of TSTA from District XI for the 1958 session. One of his specialties is the field of Visual Aids. During World War II, he was called as one of six Visual Aids specialists to head the Visual Aids Training School for officers. He won the highest honor for civilian men, the Meritorious Award, for superior work. He continues this interest by providing a program of student training in the operations and maintenance of the Visual Aids equipment in his student body. He also serves as Visual Aids Director for the City Recreation Program. His service to his community enters into several areas. He is Cub Scout Master and an instructor in the University of Scouting. He has just completed a three-year term as Post Supervisor for the 4765th Ground Observer Squadron, U.S. Air Force, for which he and twenty -one of his student trainees have re- ceived their wings. He is an active member of the local Lions Club and of the First Baptist Church. li Faculty and Personnel The Junior High School faculty is composed of men and women with high ideals and varied interests in life. Of course, one hundred per cent of these hold Bachelor ' s degrees and eighty per cent hold Master ' s degrees. Along with these degrees are other degrees and certificates of distinction. Many of these teachers hold responsible offices in our churches and civic affairs. Thirteen members either teach Sunday School or hold other prominent offices in the churches of their choosing. Ten belong to A.A.U.W., Delta Kappa Gamma, or other honorary societies. Thirteen belong to civic clubs, lecture groups, or theater groups. Eight belong and help in service clubs of the city. Four work with Scouts, either with boys or girls or both. One belongs to the Friends of the Library, a civic organization which helps city, country, and district libraries. Throughput the years that these faculty members have taught, many other honors, too numerous to mention, have been bestowed upon many of our teachers. These show that our teaching profession con- sists of worthy members to our society. We salute these, our Junior High teachers. Ax. Charles Bell B.A., B.S. Agriculture Mr. Dale Biggs B.S.
