Unusual, also, is the fact that it boasts of over one hundred members showing an increased interest in our his- toric past. Through the efforts of its members it has been possible to publish The Three Towns, a small but interesting history of our community fifty years ago--a copy of which has been given to every member. A number of rare pic- tures and newspapers have been located and copies made for the use of the so- ciety During the year, the group made a trip to the Westmoreland Fayette Branch of the Western Pennsylvania Historical Society at Greensburg and local industrial establishments We have listened to guest speakers on things of historic interest The pictures on this page show the Old Market House located at the cor ner of Third Avenue and Market Street where it was a landmark for many years, the Old School House which stood where the Brownsville Hospital is now, and the other two pictures show our method of securing water in dry weather in days before the organization of the Brownsville Water Company A barrel of water in those days sold for twenty five cents These pictures, we hope will further interest you m the objectives of the club The ofhcers are President Fred Pnce, Vice President, Mark Titler, Secretary, Leoda Durlgon Treasurer Glenn Bower am. fm. ..m..,fff , . .
