SMITH ZEBLEY HENRY Porter Remington earned the Hrst team positron at the begmnmg of the year and was a stand out on the offenslve when blockmg ohn Rosen, a Jumor, played center when Bachettx was shxfted over to guard He very seldom caused any fumbles because of bad passes from center, and backed up the lme on the defense Consldermg everything, thls years team was managed by as good hands as any other teams m the past have ever been managed The managers of the football squad, Larry Zebley, ohn Henry, and George Smith proved their worth to both the players and coaches time after ume durxng the football season These fellows executed their dutles on the field and m the locker room as speedily and wxth greatest pos sible efhcxency A bxg factor throughout the season, wm or lose, ram or shme, were our cheerleaders Fred Prxce, a semot, Tommy Burns a Junior, Carl Taylor, Lorene Zebley and Betty Elder, sophomores, who stuck to their job of gettmg the fans to cheer untxl xr was all over This group held thexr places as far as the cheering goes wlth the best, wh1ch IS com mendable smce Fred Prxce was the only one who had any experxence pnor to the openmg of the 1937 season Smce he ns the only one of the Hoclc who will be lost by graduatuon this year, we can look forward to even better cheering results durmg the 1938 football season BRITIVICH 18

Brown Remmgtou In the hnal contest of the season the team played Unrontown m a sea of mud at the Water Street Stadium the game ending ln a O 0 tre When the figures are added up we find that the squad had five vlc torles three losses and two tres They placed third ln the Big Snr con ferences where the competmon was tough rf not tougher than any place rn the W P I A L In the lme up at end for Brownsvllle was Vince Ananla a semor who was shxfted around from one posmon to another finally recervmg at mld season a berth as regular left end Ar center for the VlliIhgS was semor Len Bachettn who alternated at the guard and center posltlons he was at his pnme when bloclcxng on the olfensnve At halfbaclc played Nledlclc Caplrano another semor who has been a regular for two years Small but fast as lxghtnlng he was the spark plug of the team on the held Another halfbaclc who has hung up his football togs for the last tlme IS Joe Daley a senlor who was best on the offensrve because of hrs speed All valley guard was Rumford Lockman a semor who was qUlClC at detecnng where the opponents plays were gomg At the end of the season he was hampered by mjurxes John Magaldn was also at the tackle posmon unnl the latter part of the season when he was moved over to the end where he proved to be worth his weight 1n gold All valley tackle for the year was Andy Oyenlclc a semor who was noted for his endurance and ability to open holes m the enemy lme for our baclcfield 17 Keefer Fedvfes Reset' Bdflhetia Magalda - Hormck

During the 1937 football season a great deal of excellent worl: was accomplished by the commxttee of the athletic board whxch consisted of Mr Roy Davxs chairman Mr H O Hombake treasurer and Martin Claybaugh secretary These three gentlemen have from scratch bullt our playmg field mto F stfdrum with a seating capacity of 7000 people and expenslve lxghtmg acl mes Durmg the last summer bleachers were added to the south end of the held and plans are under way to add more bleachers to the student sectmn during the next few months Football games would never have been enjoyed by the fans as much as they were dunng the past year nf If had not been for the work of thus board Chalrman Davis who retired at the conclusion of the year was awarded a gold football and cham by the Varslty Club to show their apprecratxon for his untlrmg efforts J ROY DAVIS Chairman H O HORNBAKE Treasurer 19 M W CLAYBAUGH
