U' L ockman 1' 5-X M550 ...tx enin Svttou Arvduia f 1' ' x - E Daley U Ldluno 3 In the opening game of the season on September 10th, our grid machine sub- merged Georges Township under the lights at the Water Street Stadium by a 19-0 count. One week later, Brownsville played host to a Fighting German Township team which threw a scare into the boys, but went home on the short end of a 14-7 score. The following week our black and white foeman from Redstone came over and cuffed and shoved our boys around for the greater part of the game. The cry of our squad must have been They shall not pass,', because four times the Redstoners were replaced in the shadow of the Brownie goal and each time when the downs were utilized, the ball rested just inches from touch down land. Late in the game with 220 seconds playing time remaining and Redstone ahead 6-0, the Brownie machine pushed over a touchdown to tie up the score. On the first day of October, the Charleroi cougars came to town and walked off with a 20-0 victory. Seven days later the team traveled to Monessen to help dedicate the new stadium, but returned home with a 24-6 defeat. The following week, October 15th, a Monongahela team came, saw and was con- quered by a 30-0 score. The upset of the season was staged on October 22nd, when a game Centerville team eked out a 6-0 score. The next week the Vikings hit the open road once again and got back to winning ways by submerging California Z5-0. In the last of their big six games on November 6th, the squad came through to sink Donora 12-0. 16

SMITH ZEBLEY HENRY Porter Remington earned the Hrst team positron at the begmnmg of the year and was a stand out on the offenslve when blockmg ohn Rosen, a Jumor, played center when Bachettx was shxfted over to guard He very seldom caused any fumbles because of bad passes from center, and backed up the lme on the defense Consldermg everything, thls years team was managed by as good hands as any other teams m the past have ever been managed The managers of the football squad, Larry Zebley, ohn Henry, and George Smith proved their worth to both the players and coaches time after ume durxng the football season These fellows executed their dutles on the field and m the locker room as speedily and wxth greatest pos sible efhcxency A bxg factor throughout the season, wm or lose, ram or shme, were our cheerleaders Fred Prxce, a semot, Tommy Burns a Junior, Carl Taylor, Lorene Zebley and Betty Elder, sophomores, who stuck to their job of gettmg the fans to cheer untxl xr was all over This group held thexr places as far as the cheering goes wlth the best, wh1ch IS com mendable smce Fred Prxce was the only one who had any experxence pnor to the openmg of the 1937 season Smce he ns the only one of the Hoclc who will be lost by graduatuon this year, we can look forward to even better cheering results durmg the 1938 football season BRITIVICH 18
