Special Chorus Out of the general chorus ol' the high school sprang a new musical organization known as the Special Chorus. Its members were chosen by special voice tests. hy their interest and knowledge of music in gen- eral. and by their desire to study more specifically the rudiments of vocal artistry. Miss Held helped or- ganize and begin the work with this special group the nrst semester. and Mr. Roush took it over at the beginning ol' the second semester. This chorus made its first puhlic appearance at the Spring Concert. in conjunction with the high school band. New numbers added to our library this year are Out Of The Dusk To You. Neapolitan Nights, I Love A l,ittle Cottage. Prayer Perfect. and Smoke Crets ln Your Eyes. -- . .,,.. 4 ,W Y, Though small in numher. the Brownstown High School Band has progressed quite steadily throughf out the year. Miss Held was the director the nrst semester: and Mr. Roush. who returned from the Armed Forces during the year. instructed them the second semester. The band appeared in several convocation programs and played for all the home basketball games. The featured musical event ol the year. however. was the spring concert held in April. Added to our growing library this year were: Sousa's Famous Nlarches. Strike Up The Band. Old Glory. and Christmas Fantasy. Band

Sunshine Society The Sunshine Society includes in its membership neeirly every girl in high school and is sponsored by Nlrs. Peters. Several girls and the sponsor attended the district convention at Seottsburg this year and twentyeuve members attended the state convention at Indianapolis on April 6. The state program has been carried out through discussion by guest spenleers, members Ol.lllCUl'j1..ll1llJ- tion, and the sponsor. The chief purpose of the club is to render service and improve the community in every way possible. Among other things the club donated S5 to the Red Cross, The oflieers this year were: .lean Denny.
