Sunbeams 'l he Sunbeam organization is composed ol' the girls from the sixth, seventh. and eighth grades. Some of the aims ol' this group are to develop a friendly feeling among the girls. to furf nish good clean fun. and to develop leadership. 'lihis club works under the direction ol' the state ofhcers of the Sunshine organization which functions in the high schools. liach year the Sunheams contribute to the Riley Hospital lfund and also carry out other projects, 'l'his year they bought two sills flags on standards and presented one to the seventh grade room and one to the eighth grade room, 'lihe organization has 36 members this year and is sponsored by Klrs. Cfarr. 'lhe high school chorus was organized at the beginning ol' the school year with approxiv mately 50 members. 30 girls and Z0 boys, This group made its nrst appearance on December 20, when they participated in a Hi-Y program. SUNSHINE 'lihis year marks the fifteenth year of the Sunshine Society in l7z.H,S, One of the INOSI popular clubs in school. its membership includes nearly every girl in high school. and is sponsored by Mrs. Peters. A definite program. based on the topic. Post-XVar Dreams. was followed with ministers of the various local churches serving as speakers at the meetings. Band The B.H.S. band is one of the prominent organizations in school. Vwlith the help of sev- eral new members, new music. and a ma-iorette corps composed of Patty Bultman. VVilma Lee Fleetwood. Earlene Johnson and Clair Dean Robison. the band has made a line showing this year. Besides playing for the Democrat rally. the basketball games and school convocaf tions. they also gave a program consisting of march formations and a joint concert in the spring with the High School Chorus. li? . l l-ast fall saw the beginning of a new school organization. the Swing Band. under the direction of Mr. I-larrod. The group was composed of two trumpets. three saxophones. one trombone. one bassadrummer. anda pianist. They met once a week to practice swinging current popular music. XVe hope to see this group continue to develop and take an active part in the social activities of the school next year. Svdng Band
