The school board is responsible for the care, management and control of school districts. The school board has the functions of planning, policy making, and evaluation. It is the school board that decides the nature and extent of the instructional program, including graduation requirements, extracurricu- lar activities and special education programs. The school board employs personnel, adopts the budget, reviews receipts and expenditures, adopts the school calendar, approves purchases, negotiates master agreements, and many other obligations. The responsibility of a school board to the community is based upon the responsibility of an elected public official to the electorate, but it goes far beyond this basic consideration. No other subdivision of governmnt has such a unique relationship than that which shares with the family the responsibility for the education of the children. To school board members, the yearbook staff extends appreciation for dedicated service. We thank the community for their efforts to maintain our school and to provide an education for the students of Browns Valley Schools. 13

DO YOU REMEMBER — Mrs. Zinter lost her voice and Leora, Jackie and April got to be her pets for a day. — Don and Mary Beth got slapped by Mr. Adolfson in Phy. Ed. — The tag games we used to play at recess. — We would ask to go look at encyclopedia’s in 6th grade then stand in the hall and talk. — Carlos fell asleep and Mr. Zinter scared him awake. — Doug an had to stand outside because he was looking out the window. — Jackie, Kris, Rhonda and Skyla write a petition in 4th grade to get Kevin out of the reading group. — Becky, Dris, Rhonda, Gina, Jackie, and April got suspended from Phy. Ed. for riding in Sherman Bette’s pickup and not running the horse shoe. — Duane locked himself in the bathroom in Kindergarten. — What happened when Willie said, “I’m looking at you too.’ to Mr. Zinter. — Rhonda and Don got married in 3rd grade. — Don made Rhonda bite a hole in her tongue in 7th grade. — Becky got her comb stuck in her hair and Mr. Zinter cut it out. — Sara got in trouble because she stuffed her potatoes in her cup at noon. — Dick Sagehorn splitting his pants in Phy. Ed. — Our Junior Prom —no one else does.
