1974 Editor: Mark Schaunaman Co-Editor: Mark Hansen Advisor: Scott E. Hammond T h u n d e r b i r d We, the Senior Class of 1974, take great pride in dedicating this, our yearbook, to Mr. Richard Robbins. He has been our class advisor for three years, worked with us, and has done a fine job in guiding us. We would like to take this opportunity to thank him and congratulate him for all the wonderful things he has done for our class during the past few years. We hope he has enjoyed it as much as we have. He that governs well, leads the blind; But he that teaches, gives them eyes. 2 3 Alan L. Rowland Newspaper Staff. Annual Staff . . Class Play. . . . This was the year the majority of us were born; the bright beginning of the class of 1974. In the fall of 1961, 40 bright-eyed kids entered kindergarten in the basement of the Carnegie library with Mrs. Hurlbut as our teacher. In first grade we were the lucky ones to start out in the brand new elementary building. We made it through grade school with all of our great adventures. Now we were ready to enter 7th grade in the brand new high school. Our class officers for 7th grade were: Pres- ident, Mark Hansen; Vice-President, Vicki Baer; Secretary, Joyce Hedrick; and Student Council, Terry Beumer. We really thought we were the coolest that ever hit B. V. with all of our sayings which Mrs. Nudell reported to our parents. That year we buried Poor Bob in the dictionary, and Mrs. Nudell almost had a fit over that. Another year had past and we were ready to enter 8th grade. We chose our class officers for this year as: Pres- ident, Mark Schaunaman; Vice-President, Louis Lanie; Secretary, Sara Lumphrey; and Student Council, Mark Hansen. Ninth grade was very eventful for us. Our class was lead by: President, Mark Schaunaman; Vice-President, Nathan Thompson; Secretary, Marilyn McLane; and Student Council, Terry Beumer. We all remember the good times in Mr. Cyrick's algebra class. For Homecoming attendents we chose Vicki Baer and Nathan Thompson. By the time we were sophomores, we knew the ropes pretty well. The elected officers for the year were: Pres- ident, Sara Lumphrey; Vice-President, Alan Rowland; Secretary, Joan Metz; and Student Council, Vicki Baer and Mark Schwagel. Our Homecoming attendents were Becky Domarus and Phil McCaskell, and we won second prize with our float. We hit our junior year with a storm, lead by: President, Mark Hansen; Vice-President, Joan Metz; Secretary, Connie Kruger; and Student Council, Becky Domarus and Phil McCaskell. We selected Joyce Hedrick and Terry Witte for our Homecoming attendents, and we won first prize on our fantastic float. We were given our chance at the business world when we began our magazine sales. We proved our ability by setting a new record. Our class play for the year was the Custard Caper , directed by Ms. Alby. Then Prom came around and our theme was Nights in White Satin . Now we are the mighty Seniors! Our officers are: President, Terry Beumer; Vice-President, Mark Schaunaman; Secretary, Pat Kushel; Treasurer, Jean Nigg; and Student Council, Alan Rowland and Mark Hansem. Candidates for Homecoming Queen were: Joyce Hedrick, Jean Nigg, and Vicki Baer. Candidates for King were: Terry Beumer, Rob Ward, and Mark Hansen. Vicki Baer and Mark Hansen were chosen to reign over the festivities. Our class colors are yellow and orange, our class flower is the yellow rose, and our motto is Today We Prepare for Our Dream of Tomorrow . Through the years we have had many kids joining us, leaving us and now ending up with 30 of us graduate from B. V. H. S. Here is a list of all of the kids that have been with us through the years. Remember...Vicki Baer, Blanche Beil, Larry Beil, Edna Bender, Terry Beumer, Mary Birnbaum, Brad Burg, Greg Ceaser, Wayne DeSpeigler, Becky Domarus, Jan Eckerson, Marilyn Grimili, Muriel Hammerstein, Mark Hansen, Joyce Hedrick, Randy Hisgun, Paula Horne, Mary Isaacson, Charles James, Phillip Jarmen, Andrea Jung, Ray Kelpin, LaVern Krone, Connie Kruger, Pat Kushel, Orlu Kushel, Louis Lanie, Annette Little, Sara Lumphrey, Phil McCaskell, Marilyn McLane, Joan Metz, Don Meyer, Mark Miller, Debbie Myher, Diane Myher, Delton Nickalauson, Brenda Nigg, Jean Nigg, Marilynn Nigg, Gary Ortly, Mark Papka, Calvin Petersen, Sheryl Raw, Jim Reinart, Joe Reinart, Alan Rowland, Larry Senecal, Mark Schaunaman, Tim Schildt, Becky Schmidt, Doug Smith, Bruce Spindler, Mark Schwagel, Mary Ellen Thompson, Nathan Thompson, Cheri Toelle, Rob Ward, Dane White, Jodi White, Mark Witte, Terry Witte, Pat Zabel, and Craig Ziemer. Scliaunaman, being professionals in the field of crime and utter choas, do hereby mil to Mr. Hammond, the couch which we ingeniously swiped from Mr. Ulferts' office.
