THUNDERBIRD 1970 EDITORS: ALEC MEDBERY, PEGGY DUFFIELD JUNIOR EDITOR: BOB PETERSON DEDICATION We, the Senior Class of 1970, dedicate this annual to Mr. Bruce Aalgaard. We will always remember his class, biology, as one of the more enjoyable and worthwhile classes of our high school years. He has guided without pushing and advised without ordering, therefore earning our respect and gratitude. We feel that he deserves recognition for his outstanding teaching abilities. May the memories of his years at BVHS be as pleasant to him as they will be to us. Q f SS FioUJ . Gol0£N Po QuASs CoL0tS: lAvy 4a Z) GoL-0 f J00 ? This was the year in which the majority of us were born; the bright beginning of the class of 1970. Our class has always taken pride in its size. We hold the largest record, having had 56 members in the 1962- 63 school year. By the time we reached our Freshman year, classmates had come and gone, leaving 49 eager, gullible students to be molded into solid citizens. Our elected officers for the year were: President, Randy Ward; Vice-Presi- dent, Randy Witte; Secretary-Treasurer, Jeff Lubbers; Student Council, Zinda McKee. We chose as our Home- coming attendants, Eileen Lubbers and Randy Witte. In the fall of 1967 we entered our Sophomore year of school with a loss of three of our classmates; Norma Renville, Merl Sing, and Marlys Spindler, and a gain of two: Tim Salisbury and Greg Peppersack. With our class of 48, we were still able to carry on our mischief.. .er.. .business. We elected as our officers for the year: President, Eileen Lubbers; Vice-President, Dean Lehrke; Secretary-Treasurer, Alec Medbery; and Student Council, Melody Ward and Eleanor Nettestad. Steve Miller and Melody Ward were chosen as host and hostess for the prom. The school year of 1968-69 proved to be a very busy one for the members of our class. We lost six members: Tim Salisbury, Randy Witte, Ed Crawford, Zinda McKee, Dave Appel, and Ken Ortley, but we also gained two members: Vera Quesnell and Karen Schauff. Our business began with the election of our officers: President, Melody Ward; Vice-President, Jeff Lubbers; Secretary-Treasurer, Curt Roark; and Student Council, Steve Miller and Dean Lehrke. Homecoming attendants were Linda Layden and Steve Miller. We were given our chance at the business world when we began our magazine sales. We proved our ability by setting a new record and added a substantial amount of money to our treasury. With all the ambition and talent surging within us, we couldn't possibly let the year go by without a class play. The Junior Class of 1968-69 presented Cheaper By the Dozen, a comedy based on a novel by Frank Gilbreth. Prom was the next business on our list for the year. The theme of Heaven on Earth proved to be very ap- propriate in our setting of navy and baby blue. Jean Schwagerl was chosen for Girl's State and Roy Bartz was chosen for Boy's State. With the loss of Don Dew and Ron Skjonsberg, 42 Seniors returned for the final year. Officers for the year were: President, Steve Miller; Vice-President, Linda Layden; Secretary-Treasurer, Carla Nude 11; and Student Council, Eleanor Nettestad and Melody Ward. Candidates for Homecoming Queen were: Judy Haggerty, Linda Layden, and Eileen Lubbers. Candidates for King were: Randy Ward, Greg Peppersack, and Alec Medbery. Judy and Randy were chosen to reign over the festivities. Due to our previous performance on stage, we were persuaded to do an encore. We chose the comedy Feudin', Fightin', and Fussin'. We closed our Senior year on May 29, 1970, with 42 young adults ready to face the world, keeping in mind that A JOURNEY OF A THOUSAND MILES BEGINS WITH ONE STEP. 15 CLASS WILL I, Janice Anderson, will Donella Foren my place at McKee's to watch Midnight Macabre every Friday night.
