THUNDERBIRD 1969 EDITORS: SANDY WARD, KATHLEEN NUDELL JUNIOR EDITOR: PEGGY DUFFIELD Highlights Organizations Activities Faculty Undergrads Advertising contend 2 PRESENTATION This new edition of the Thunderbird has been published with but one objective: to capture a year between its covers. While we know that life at Browns Valley High is a multiple of realities which are too intangible to be related in black and white, perhaps in some small way we can preserve the friendships which we all hold so dearly. If this book will serve to bridge the past and bring to mind the priceless memories of joy and pleasures of the year just gone, it will have served its purpose. There are those without whose efforts this book, the Thunderbirds, would not have been possible. The staff would like to thank all of you. With these thoughts, we proudly present to you the students, your new Thunderbird. THE THUNDERBIRD STAFF DEDICATION Being the first graduating class since the completion of the new high school, we, the class of 1969, dedicate this annual to our old high school. Our high school days have come and gone, But in our minds they still live on! Wefll always recall where we spent those years Good times, bad times, happiness and tears. The school was drab and it was old. But it kept us all within its fold. Even though the walls would creak. The floors were warped, the faucets leaked; The lights were dim, we couldn't see. The clocks would not run accurately; The bells it seems were always wrong, The radiators were never on. We got to know it very well, And got to like it really swell. Who cares if the place was long condemned, All of us knew it as a friend; We all thought it pretty cool, And we dedicate this annual to the old high school. So with a tear for the old and a smile for the new, we tuck our days in the old high school between the pages of our memories. ■piP 'V vifS-vk' ! a ffluSs • .«wVWtttf r iov- mmmw l mm ■' '- PP Pg r$ tyUss.A gKSi :%v ■ W A V '.'Vv .’ v ; W - Pf ''w $Mlp i Pp Lynn Bigelow She hears all, thinks much, but talks little. In a green and white chevy, often rides, With Janelle Backus at his side. CUr class is very proud of its Cheerleaders two Lynn Bigelow and Diane Peterson, our hats off to you. When it comes to putting art to the test, Everyone knows Mike Roark is best. A guy may be dull or a real thriller, Two of the latter are Ted Lumphrey and Pat Miller. Dale Hammarsten is a witty guy, You can hardly say that he is shy. Sandy is full of glee, And no work and lots of fun she likes to see. On Patty Schloe you can rely, She's a friend to all, no one can deny. Sherry and Arlene are known for laughing alot, They also keep the boys on the trot. Linda and Lois are the noisy ones. In school they are always lots of fun. An excellent secretary she111 someday be. We're talking about the NLgg named Shirley. When it comes to horses, Lynette is the best, She can put any horse to its test. Steve Johnson is somewhat shy, But when on the wrestling mat, he's quite the guy. In Social class, Wes doesn't have to shout, Because he knows what he's talking about. Paul and Roger are two nice guys, With the girls, they play it wise. John and Gene are at home on the basketball floor, When we want more, they're sure to score. Nudell and Yost are a couple of nuts, They get in and out of lots of ruts. Lynn Spots and Wayne He aid hunt like pros, They know where the game is and there they go. Terry Foster likes Westerns, that is true, But girls are another one of his interests, too. With Don LeCiair, the girls play it cool, EUt then they ail go home and drool. Pelzel and Serocki are happy and no one asks why, Because each has found her special guy. When speaking about Marva and Deloris, You can say they 11 speak a good word for us. Dennis is always making the scene, He likes all sports and was Homecoming King. Floyd and Joe are lots of fun, rIhey puli a prank, then watch them run. Appl and Ingemunson are by everyone liked well, On their guitars, they play songs really swell. Even though someday we'll be far apart, We'll remember our classmates, dear to our heart. 15 CLASS I, Linda Almquist, will Alec Medberry my parking spot across from the Sisseton outdoor theater, in hopes that he will use it frequently.
