7. In August, flood waters of the Chena River in Alaska caused hundreds of millions of dollars in damage. Fif- teen thousand residents of Fairbanks were evacuated. 8. In July. 4.700 Federal troops were called in to suppress rioting in Detroit. Michigan Many other cities experienced similar riots during 1967. 9. On November 9. following years of preparation and the expenditure of billions of dollars, the first giant Saturn rocket was launched from Cape Kennedy. 10. UCLA's basketball team, featuring 7-foot. 2-inch Lew Alcmdor. was undefeated in 1967 and could con- ceivably set an all time win record during 1968. 11. Secretary Robert C. Weaver looks over a possible solution to part of the pollution problem, a minicar which features a small gasoline-electric engine 12. We picked the following as officers for the year: President, Janet Hoffman; Vice-President, Mick Butala; and Secretary-Treasurer, Scott Beumer. Keith Haggerty was chosen to represent us on the Student Council. Our Homecoming attendants were Karen Lotzer and Keith Haggerty. Before and during our Sophomore year we lost the following from our class: Larry Douglas, Ted Lumphrey, Sharon Musil, Renae Oletzke, Tom Rollens, Lucille Welch, Karen Lotzer and Jean Alberts. We gained two new members, though. They were Silas Ortley and Marva Philbrick. During this year we elected Mike Falkingham as President, Brent Smith as Vice- President, and Jennie Thompson as Secretary-Treasurer. Our Student Council representatives were Diane Hoffman and Carolyn Marshall. We elected Janet Hoffman and Mick Butala as Homecoming attendants. Starting our Junior year we elected the following people to head our class: President, Keith Haggerty; Vice-President, Mick Butala; and Secretary-Treasurer, Donna Nudell. Our Student Council representatives were KoKo Westbrock and Scott Beumer. We lost two of our classmates, Jennie Thompson and Marva Philbrick, and had a total of 41 In our Junior class. Judy Metz was chosen as our Girl Stater and Barry Peterson as Boy Stater. Donna Nudell and Brent Smith were our Homecoming attendants. We lost two from our Junior year: Mick Butala and Felicia Ortley; but we had a new student, Alan Peppersack; and therefore, entered our Senior year with 40 students. KoKo Westbrock was elected President of our class; Barry Peterson, Vice-President; and Diane Hoffman, Secretary-Treasurer. Janet Hoffman and Don Johnson were our Student Council members• Our candidates for Homecoming festivities were: Queen Candidates—Connie Dusing, Kathy Reed, KoKo Westbrock, and Linda Zacbarias. King Candidates were: Keith Haggerty, Don Johnson, John Lynch, and Brent Smith. Connie and Keith were chosen Queen and King.
