CfictSS f-flst uj The would will Little note, non. long remember what we say here, but It can never 4 orget what they did hene. It is nathen unlikely that thli statement, which was made by Abe Lincoln In his Getiysbung Kddness 100 yeans ago, can be applied to one Senlon Class o 5 63 . However, the Class 63 has experienced some unAorgetable memonles and events In their oun yeans oA high school. When the 31 members oA the Class oA 63 entened as Areshmen In the Aoll oA 1959, with Marvin Hisgun, John Bauman, Ennest Hutchins, Vanlene Kitto, and Shanlyn Plstonlus as new students, they thought high school would be nothing new. [It wasn't--------just the same old building.) Howeven, they soon discovered that they were not so wise aAten all. The boys were beginning to A -tl that they could gneatly beneAlt B.V.H.S. by joining basketball, A°°ihall, and othen sponts. That yean there were 3 lettermen the class. The girls, not wanting to disarray their hair while mak- ing a Aootball tackle on be scantily attired while wearing the basketball unlAonms, decided to join the boys In milder extra-curricular activities such as chorus, band, FHA, FTA, newspaper, and GAA. Mary Schmitz and Gary Lubbers represented the class In the student council. Boys took all the honors as class oAAi-oers, and president Steve Haugland, vice-president-treasurer Richard Englent, and secretary Tom Schwagel did a good job In leading the class. Shanlyn Pistorius, Mary Lynch and Tom Schwagel were our class o A Alters, and Mary Lynch and Gary Lubbers were our student council members. Helen Homan was again our royalty at Homecoming. In our junior yean, Mary Schmitz and Alyce Westlund again raised our class membership to 32. However, Loren Sykora leAt us, and we dropped back to 31 members. We started the year out right by conducting a magazine drive and adding a substantial amount oA money to our treasury. Student council members, Cathie Veyo and Tom Schwagel, worked with members oA other classes to work out problems and to sponsor various school activities. Five juniors were admitted to the National Honor Society. Cathie Veyo and Steve Haugland were our Homecoming attendants that year. Class president Steve Haugland, vice-president Eugene Labs, and secretary-treasurer Jean VuAAield worked with the members oA our class In April oA that year to present its class play en- titled Our Hearts Were Young and Gay. In May oA our junior year we used much oA the money we had earned previously in the year to sponsor our Junior-Senior Prom entitled Oriental Gardens. The Sumner months quickly came and then leAt again, and there were now 31 senior class members but Pat Borgheocnck soon leAt us and decreased our membership by one. Helen Homan and Gerry Bretzke reigned as our Homecoming King and Queen In the Aall oA 62. In the senior year there were a total oA 15 lettermen who had participated In various sports during the past Aour years. Class oAAlc.ers were Kenny Roerlg, Richard Englert, and John Thompson. Steve Haugland and Sharlyn Pistorius were our representatives In the student council. As the year progressed, class members were kept very busy making preparations A0 graduation on May 17. Only time will tell IA the events and activities o the Class oA 63 will Iona be re- membered, and people can never Aorget what they did here.
