would like a ride but she very graciously declined, good-by as she turned the far corner. So ended a most delightful trip. minmimmuiHT She stopped long enough to wave HISTORV In September, 1949, thirty-nine wide-eyed green Freshmen entered the halls of Brovns HH Valley High School. Shortly after creeping in, we were inltatled by the Seniors. Now, truly belonging in the school, we proceeded to elect our class officers. Presidents David, Vice Pres.s Lyle, Sec. TreaB. Warren. After this was completed we felt free to venture far- ther. Gerry, Kathleen, Phyllis, Darlene, and Charlotte joined Glee Club; Francis, Lyle, a i Jim Joined the Band; and 12 Girls Joined Pep Club. Arlene and Warren were chosen for the Paper Staff; Phyllis and Arlene went out for Speech; Gary, Leo, Dave, Warren, Bud, Donny — and Jim were on the Basketball Teams; and Dave, Leo, and Gary played Baseball. Ethel and — David were elected our King and Queen Candidates for the Carnival. As we entered into our Sophmore year, we were without Mary Lou and Richard, who trans- ferred to Morris; Gary, who transferred to Moorhead; Marlon, who transferred to Rosholt, and Leo P. and Bob H., who quit. Leo M, and Gladys R. were elected Carnival King and Queen,i due to the vivacious selling of tickets by the Sophmores. Leo was elected Pres, of the Class; Bud, Vice Pres, and Gilbert, Sec. Treas. Eleven boys Joined Boys Glee Club; nine joined Girls Glee Club, end thirteen Soph, were in Mixed Chorus. Lyle, Jim and Francis were in Band; Ethel, Arlene and Glenda were on the Paper Staff; six Soph, were in Speech; H girls were in Pep Club; and Arlene took part in One-Act Play. Three boys pli ed Basketball; five played Football; and Jim acted as Student Manager. We started our Junior year with three less. Leo M. transferred to St. Thomas; Pete P. transferred to Morris; Gladys R. moved to California; Don N., Jim L., Bud S., and GeraldS quit. But Marion returned from Rosholt; Gary, from Moorhead; Frank Burleson transferred from Custer; and Pat Elsen transferred from Hankinson. Nine boys played Football, and five played A team Basketball. Gilbert was elected Pres., Phyllis, Vice Pres.; and Ethel, Sec. Treas. Frank, Warren and Lyle were members of the Student Council, Frank, Vice President. Fourteen girls were in Pep Club; nine girls in Glee Club; sixteen Juniors in Mixed Chorus; and Francis, Jim, Lyle, and Roger played in the Band. Gilbert, Frank, Vivian, Phyllis, and Arlene were in One-Act Plays; seven Juniors were Speech Contestants, and eleven were on the Paper Staff. Darlene, Dave, and Gilbert were on Annual Staff. Phyllis and Frank were elected Carnival King and Queen Candidates. The Junior Play was cast, but never presented. We entered our Senior year without Vivian or Wayne. Warren was'chosen Pres., Frank, Vice Pres., Phyllis, Treas., and Arlene, Sec. Frank, Ethel, and Warren were on the Student Council, of which Frank was elected President. Burkharda was elected Home- coming Queen; Gerry and Arlene were in the Sexette; Lyle, Roger, and Jim were in the Band. Phyllis was elected Editor of the Annual, and Ethel and Arlene were on her Staff. Arlene was Editor of the Thunderbird, and six other Seniors helped on the Staf Fourteen Seniors were in Mixed Chorus; ten boys were out for Football, «rri five Senior boys played on the A Basketball team. The Senior Class presented their play with sixteen in the cast, and the rest helping with all the little jobs. We ended our Senior year, seven of us going through all twelve years together, very happy and satisfied Seniors i
