The couples who violated the Twirp Week rules were recognized at an assembly held at the end of the week. There were three preliminary events. In the first event, Superman, the boy emerged from a telephone booth and leaped tall buildings to rescue the girl and carry her to safety. Jaws was the second event. Apples were suspend- ed from the ceiling. The couple who ate the most with their hands tied behind them was declared the win- ner. There was a thirty second time limit. Califor- nia Suite was the last preliminary event. Each per- son was blindfolded and each couple was given a suit- case. The couple wearing the most articles of cloth- ing after two minutes was the winner. Kelly Reid and Teresa Murphy, Anthony Hinton and Janice Brown, Mark Cullimore and Betsy Williams, and Mr. and Mrs. Hensley advanced to the final event, Animal House. The boy was dressed in a toga. The girl, standing in a chair, broke an egg into a cup placed on the boy's head. The Twirp Week winners were Kelly Reid and Teresa Murphy. a. The final event was Animal House. Couples shown are Anthony Hinton and Janice Brown, Mr. and Mrs . Hensley, Mark Cullimore and Betsy Williams, and Teresa Murphy and Kelly Reid. b. Andy Stone and Melayne I-Iendley pull off their blindfolds to see who won in the California Suite event. c. Kelly Reid, Teresa Murphy, Donna Williams, Dee Foster, Tammy Steele, Timmy Murphy, and Janice Brown wait to see what will happen next. d. Mr. Hensley looks quite handsome in a toga. e. a. The members of the faculty were presented certifi- cates of apprecia- tion. b . Connie Drake picks up the micro- phone to sing. c . Kelly Reid imi- tates Mr. Geron. d. Students per- formed a skit show- ing what happens in the lounge every morning. Tea oh or Apprecia tion March 12-16 was observed as Teacher Appreciation Week at BHS. Each member of the Student Council was assigned a teacher to se- cretly appreciate. An assembly was held at the end of the week. Sev- eral students participated in a skit imitating some of the teachers in the lounge. Those students were Kathy Bailey fMrs. Wheelerj, Kevin Billings QCoach Tuckerj, Jay Bryant fCoach Medleyj, Cynthia Camp- bell fMrs. Caglej, Michelle Ellis fMrs. Weissj, Loyd Hamilton QMr. Beckerj, Bobby Knox QCoach Worthy, Mike Lawson fCoach Lei- deckerj, Sylvia Lira fMrs. Toliverj, Renae' Moore fMrs. McFer- rinj, Robert Noble fCoach McFerrinJ, Kelly Reid QMr. Geronj, and Brentt Wilkes QCoach Pauly. You Light Up My Life was dedicated to the faculty and sung by Connie Drake. Members of the faculty were presented certificates of appreciation and apples for their dedication and concern. Jamie Addison read the Teacher's Pray- er. At the end of the assembly each teacher discovered their secret pal. The week was successful and fun.
