Three patient and cheerful ladies take care of the many duties in the main office. The receptionist at the front desk is Mrs. Ruth McLaughlin, who also handles all official school records. Her duties encompass such odd tasks as band- aging scraped knees, timing track meets, and sponsoring the girls' golf team. Mrs. Myrna Wohlers is Mr. Ballard's personal secretary. She handles school correspond- ence, and has the awesome task of accounting for the location of every teacher and student at any given time. Mrs. Shirley Jennings has, in her first year as the school's accountant, gained a rep- utation for thriftiness. A few of her supplementary duties are sponsorship of the Service League and supervision of the sickroom. Glenn Ballard Headmaster At Brownell-Talbot, we are in- deed fortunate to have Mr. Ballard as headmaster. His firm handshake and cheerful smile welcome us to school every morning, and he conveys his enthusiasm for learning throughout the day. In a small independent school, it is essential to have such a capable administrator to direct effectively all school affairs. Moreover,Mr. Ballard is a personally involved counselor for each student. He certainly inspires pride in our school and encourages respect for education.

Art Brube, Edward Grzebielski, Herman Arent, and Bob Arent Kitchen Cooking for over 150 students a day is a demanding iob requiring much planning and hard work. It is the task of Brownell-Talbot's kitchen staff to prepare a well-balanced lunch each day for the Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools. Furthermore, they must as- sume the extra burden of cooking for banquets. Mrs. Clements,Mrs.VanHorn, and Mrs. lvaskevicius deserve our grat- itude for their outstanding efforts to give us flavor and variety in our meals. Maintenance Brownell-Talbot has one of the most attractive campuses of any high school in Omaha. One reason for this is the exceptional work being done by Mr. Arent and his staff to keep the grounds in order. Their maior contribution, how- ever, is the day-by-day upkeep of the school buildings. This includes painting, paneling, cleaning, repairing, and being responsible for the many improvements in the school's facilities. The staff is to be commended for the fine work it does.
