V Cizanne to Bupwhar fillnateanef 'UR Could h It 1 KS: then, 'milieux DEDICATION The staff of the Brun Mae! proudly dedicates this yearbook to a person signally repre- sentative of its theme, creative expression. Ruth Whitaker Lange, an alumna of Pembroke, exemplifies daily those qualities of energy, imagination and generosity which we take for our ideal. How shall we express our gratitude and admiration? We could write of the significance of her contribution to our campus, or, of her sincere compliment to Pembrokers, repre- sented by t'he unattended merchandise left in Pembroke Hall during exam periods. Mrs. Lange's intelligent selection of foreign items, books, and art objects united with her ability to combine them in interesting and creative displays have been met with enthusiasm by the students. We find it possible in the space of five minutes for our attention to pass from Cezanne to T. S. Eliot to the Emperor Concerto. But what we like best is the native gaiety and courage, and a quality of heart, that affec- tionate attention, which makes her presence in the bookstore a boon for the college. Noth- ing could be more refreshing than her originality, energy, and spontaneity. It is, then, with gratitude that we dedicate our book to Mrs. Lange, who has shared with us a patient and generous spirit. 1, H If II , g , , , 1 T Z. It has a two-fold purpose, first, to represent student opinion, investigating possi- bilities for the adoption of good ideas, and second, to coordinate all campus organizations. This year Student Council has formed several new committees. These, in turn, deal with arranging pub- licity, systematizing class meetings, furthering public relations, and studying both general academic affairs and the possibility of creating an academic honor system.
