xs Binde H H L T i AR i HE it Passing time, wasting timeBrown men explore many ways to do both. At times it is intentional, yet many times the student just seems to find himself involved in activities characterized by their informality and spontaneity. With his morning classes over, and after a quick lunch at the Refectory, the student photographer with a free afternoon shoulders his equipment and heads for the campus, or Providence, or Newport. Someone else, panting as he takes a seat on the University bus which almost left without him, is bound for Marvel Gym to work out in the weight room or to play handballhe still hasnt decided. Back in his dormitory, the hall hockey game continues in spite of cries to keep it down'' from his roommate who is trying to adjust the tuner on a newly finished hi-fi system. It looks like a good night to punt'' is in the mind of a Chem major who got out of lab just in time to catch dinner. He has two choices. Three of the guys in the house are looking for a fourth for bridge after Huntley-Brinkley; and a friend he bumped into on campus has mentioned a poker game tonight. Pool at Faunce House is outthe only guy he can beat consistently has gone to the Library and isn't coming back until midnight, when the Rock closes. The tube has nothing to offer. Mission Impossible is one of the few shows he has the time to watch, but he missed the last one because of an exam the next day. He'll see it with the regular crew next week. Even if it is a late night bull session which raises the major problems of the world and solves none of them, these activities become important to the individual. At times, they serve as a release from seemingly overbearing problems. Occasionally, they add interest where interest is otherwise lacking in the environment. Often, they are no more than healthy ways to enjoy free moments.
