REV HOWARD H PRQUSE Princ1p'il PE EE I remen b r the years during the first World Wa vhen students qraduating from school looked in bewilderment upon the chaos being created before their eyes and thc ortex of slaughter and horror into which they were in imminent danger of being drawn They feared the worst and yet they retained th courage horn of the high hopes that had sustained them during their school days For most of them the future was much brighter than the black clouds of warfare would permit therr to see But thev held on and many of you are their sons and daughters You are graduating in t pres ice of similar conditions No person can tell you what the future holds t you can do one thing Keep your pre nt aims as long as you are permitted to do so and do not yield one inch to fears and forebodings You have begun to rise college is ahead of you Hold on until you have completed your education ard reached your goal Kate Smith the popular radio singer and commentator recently stepped out of her usual role and in her inimitably gentle voice urged her vast mdio Word and to pray incessantly that we be delivered from the curse of War Alfred Tennyson the nreat poet once exclaimed There are more things wrought by prayer than this forld dreams of Ever it is so that courage confidence and hope can be found by those who are willing to close their eyes to the discouraging circumstances which appear and to behold Him who ultimately controls tht destiny of humanity An ancient prophet that was once encouraging the people of his race who were meeting disaster and hardship gave them a promise that has been found to he fulfilled for those who follow its conditions ln these times of devistition ind warfare it should be of great help to you who step out into a world such is ours It is Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thu because he trusteth in Thee Our trust has been shattered many times in recent years our trust in established methods and in established institutions But you may have this trust that carried our pioneer forefathers thru the dark period of their times as it will carry you thru this dark period Trust in God HOWARD H PROLISF ' C . f ' 'r ' l ' 'f'-i' l ' ' ' V l P ' .
