DARLING EUMMI-KN Z-iNT'S SECRET HY Although a summons to the commandant's office often brought dark foreboding clouds upon our horizon, there was always a ray of sunshine cast forth by Mrs. McCrary. When we knew we faced well-deserved punishment, it was easier to bear because of her symypathetic understanding. We will long remember the unsolicited, personal favors done for many of us by this lady. We are happy to confess that we are richer for having lcnown her. HEBISTH H And ever has it been, that our love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation. -The Prophet. Words fail us in attempting to describe the emotion we experience in saying farewell to Mrs. Darling. Those who lcnow her well must offer a prayer of thanlcs even though their hearts are rent with the sorrow of departure-gratitude for the privilege of having lcnown a person so consecrated to the cause of doing good. All of us are better people for having lanown her. Even first-year men are aware of the deep interest she has talcen in their personal problems as well as their academic accomplishments. l-ler motto, Back of every record is a boy, reminds both instructor and cadet to consider the human equation along with the cold statistics. We proclaim again: How all her care was but to be fair, and all her taslc to be sweet. For the maxims she has given us, for the truths she has shown us, for the goodness she has engendered within us+because of these her presence will for- ever be with us. Y 1 MRS LOUISE WILTON MISS KATHLEEN GROBECKER HU SE MUTHEHS The younger Warriors need motherly love and attection. As housemothers, Miss Grobecker and Mrs. Wilton are able to satisty emotional needs that the military organization cannot. Only persons ot understanding and sympathy can treat home- sickness, and a woman's gentle way ot handling such cases is the most ettective. Blessed with an extraordinary amount ot patience, these ladies' were never too tired to sew on stripes or brush ott the dirt when someone had tallen on the playground. Soon after the opening of the school year, the cadets were aware of the greatly expanded social calendar. The successful execution of a full schedule of entertainment was directed by Mrs. Dennis, a lady of boundless charm and infinite patience. Af- fectionately named Mrs, Etiquette, she not only taught us the social graces' but also wisely coun- seled us on many perplexing problems. l'ler expert advice guided us in reaching our own conclusions in matters of dating as well as in more serious sit- uations' in our personal life. We trust that she will experience personal satisfaction over whatever suc- cess we achieve in life, for a definite measure of it will have been due to her unselfish efforts in pre- paring us to live it as gentlemen. MRS. FREDDA DENNIS HIJSTESSES In our memory we cherish the good and beautiful things in life. ln fact, sometimes they are more perfect in that remembrance than they were in ac- tuality. Such is not the case with our beloved Mrs. Evans. The memory of her will at best but dimly reflect the goodness in her heart and the motherly love she is capable of bestowing upon all who come to her in need of advice or consolation. Faithful to the ideals of friendship, she has never betrayed a confidence. Young in heart, happy in spirit, rich in wisdom, she is perfect in the role of house mother. This is how we remember her. We also thanlc her sincerely for contributing greatly to our enjoyment of the social events she helped supervise. God bless you, Mrs. Evans. It is our fervent prayer that he will uphold you in strength and health to enjoy life in its fullest measure and permit you to radiate happiness among the many you meet. MRS. EDITH EVANS
