Mills J, Villanueva, Brown F, Riv- ers, Williams L, Coach Kirchoff. With the start of a new school year came another tootball season which held great possibilities tor the Warriors: however, during the season the team was plagued with mistortune, such as various injuries and Coach l-larvey's illness. After the squad became tully organized and was brought to the peak of its et- ticiency,'they were turned l-oose against their opponents, whom they smashed again and again. The close ot the season saw the Warriors in second place. Most ot the credit goes to Coaches l-larvey and Kirchott who worked so diligently to keep the team to- gether and fighting.

Because you showed your courage in varsity sports, the Lettermen have invited you to join their club, the most respected ot all th'e'orga'n'iz'ations. But will you be worthy ot membership? Sure, you've earned a varsity letter, but that isn't all to becoming a member. You must still go through three days ot hell. First, you had to write that letter ot exactly 200 words to the club members, telling them how much you wanted to join. Since they accepted. it, the ordeal now begins, The mud-pit you heard about won't be too bad-where you'll fight for a gunny-sack that you must wear all during the initiation. And then the first night ot running, bathing in gravel, eating hot-s.easoned tood that almost burns out your insides. It you hold out that night, you will have made it. Or will you? During the second day it won't be so bad, and at night it should be a lot ot tun making a tool ot yourselt. But through the third day you'll start sweating it.. You know that night will be the worst, but all the neophytes will stick together and keep one another from giving up. First-will be the tarring and teatheringf' but with molasses, not tar. Then the long-remembered marshmallow race, followed by climbing the goal posts tor a little exercise. At last comes the hardest blow, the part that hurts .the most, the swats. It you pass this test, you will have made it. You kneel down, wearing nothing, and each Letterman comes by ancl lets you have it, again and again, and it hurts: it hurts' so bad you want to quit then and there, but you see the other neophytes taking it, and you can't give up. After it is over, you're O.K. The next morning you are told you have to run to the beach, two miles, in your sack and get some sand in a bucket, but you won't mind that, because you know that when you get back and touch the megaphone it will be all over. You will be dead tired, but you won't care, because now YOU ARE A LETTERMAN! The Roman discus thrower has long stood for athletics all over the world, just as the l.etterman's'Club stands tor athletics at Brown. We, the members ot the l.etterm'an's Club, set the example of fair play and good sportsmanship. Being the last l.etterman's Club ot the original Brown Military Academy, we bequeath our success to the tirst Letterman's Club ot the new Brown Military Academy.
