IIUMPAN This year C Company has had a very interesting year and we consider it one of the best. Some ot the things attributing to this have been understanding Com- mandants, good Company spirit, and add- ed social activities. Some ot our regular activities have included Saturday inspections, drill downs, parades, and best ot all, added tree time. Two ot the highlights ot the year have been our annual fishing trip and Colonel Sickler's scholarship dinners. Also tremend- ously enjoyed have been the lower school tea dances. . Our platoons have competed against each other in parades and other activities and yet have remained together as- one unit under the able leadership ot our Company Commander, Cadet Captain Colotti. We doubt it we will all be together ber C Company. Captain John E. Mansfield For many reasons l consider this past year to be one ot the most outstanding ot the Lower School. I say this because there has been more than the usual amount ot responsibility placed in the hands' of the cadets. With this added work they have stood up tremendously. ln many cases l have been able to stand aside and let the cadet otticers completely run the Company. This can only be done it the Company is led by good leaders and has high quality boys in the ranks. It should also be added that the military grading system used is very severe and on a set score. With this system, -over ninety per cent of the cadets' receive C or above in their-grade. ln tact there are always more A's and B's than there are C's. The cadets also this year are on a merit system whereby they can set their mark as' high as they want it. This pays oft in good conduct ribbons and extra privileges. Militarily, the Lower School has done better than ever, as drill periods have been given to individual classes going as' low as the third grade. Most ot this is done on a competition basis and it has made the Lower School a sharp looking outfit ot which they can be proud. Many times the drilling is highlighted by the drum and bugle corps which sets the beat in the marching, . . ln closing, l would like to thank Colonel Sickler tor his friendly guidance and most ot all the cadets. Regardless ot who the Commandants are, the success or failure ot a unit depends on the boys and their attitude, and one couldn't ask tor a better group than the Lower School ot this past year. My main hope is that they carry this attitude with them when they leave and that they put into use the training that they have received. Sincerely, John E. Mansfield again next year but we will always remem-
