DEDICATION While in college Mr. Newton decided to become a coach since he enjoyed athletics and working with young people. He graduated from Eastern Illinois University at Charleston, in 1967. He began his teaching career at Lawrenceville, from there he was employed at Blue Mound, Winchester, Carrolton, and Earlville before coming to BCHS. Today he is the Athletic Director as well as the head football coach and head basketball coach. He taught at Winchester for eight years, while there he married Brenda K. Coats, who is employed as a legal secretary in Mt. Sterling. They have two daughters, Tracey Renae, age 7, and Jodee, age four. During his free time he enjoys participating in football, golf, and numerous other sports. When asked what he would like to contribute to BCHS, he replied, “I would like to make the student body and the community understand that everyone is a Hornet. We’re all here to make each other better, and I think we need to have more pride in our school.” He belieYes the school spirit has been improved by his team slogans, “P.A.S.E.”, Positive Action, Super Effort, and “Hor-et Fever-Catch It.” The Rambler staff wishes Mr. Newton the best of luck in the future.
