Only two meets besides the district at Lincoln were held, both with Central. Central nosed out the Hornets in both these meets. Mike Vandeventer and Bill Merritt, both veteran runners scored well for the Hornets, Mike winning one and placing second in the other. Bill placed third in both. However the remaining members of the team, due to lack of experience, were unable to finish high enough in the races to off set Centrals more experienced runners. In the District meet Mike and Bill again showed well placing 19 and 22 in a field of over 100 runners. Some satisfaction was obtained in this meet when these two boys placed well ahead of Central s runners who were also entered. 58 FIRST ROW: Kent Butler, Mark Vandevender, Marion Malcomson, David Roate, Frank Stout, Melvin Urven, David Moore, Jerry Mitchell, Fred Bessell, Kenneth Kurfman.
