WVe of the Iunior College of Broward County feel that it is only fitting and proper that we show our gratitude to the people who have done the most to make our college an accomp- lished fact. On this, the eve of moving onto a permanent college campus, we therefore dedicate this yearbook to the Advisory Com- mittee. The prominent members of the com- s munity who make up the I.C.B.C. Advisory Committee have given unstintingly of their time and efforts to insure that the very best insruction is available to students who come K here for an education. ' ' N ' , . Q4 'ge1-fg:3'11, . GffOffS- STANDINC: Lloyd C. Cassels, Judson Samuals, John Payne. SITTING: Robert Ferris, Mrs. H. W. Tustison. Mr. Robert E. Ferris was graduated from the College of Law at the University of Illinois and at present is a partner in the law firm of McCune, Hiaasen, Crum and Ferris. He is also the president of the South Florida Educational Center, chairman of the Zoning Board of Plantation, Florida and a former chairman of the Board of Public Instruction. Mrs. Florence H. Tustison was graduated from the University of Toledo and subsequently did graduate study at the Uni- versity of Guadalajara in Mexico. She is a former school teacher and a past president of the Parents Teachers Association Council in Clawson, Michigan. Her present activities include membership in the Ft. Lauderdale Library Board, The Florida and Broward Dental Auxiliaries, and the Historical Society of Ft. Lauderdale. She was chosen Woman of Achievement of 1953 by the Business and Professional Women of Miami. john H. Payne was graduated from .the College of Law at the University of Miami. He is presently a member of the Board of Adjustment of Ft. Lauderdale, the Board of Trustees at St. Andrews Preparatory School, and the present vice-president of the Wilton Manors Rotary Club. Lloyd C. Cassels attended the 'American Business College and the University of Florida. He is president of the insurance firm of Bateman, Cassels and Gordon. His activities include being a member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Pom- pano Beach, and a member of the Pompano Beach-Deerfield Beach Board of Realtors. Mr. Iudson A. Samuels was graduated from the College of Law at the University of Miami and is a practicing attorney in Hollywood, Florida. He is a member of the Hollywood, Broward, and American Bar Associations. His other activities in- clude the Elk's Club and the Kiwanis Club. E41

Bushing, Ph.D. Bachelor of Arts, Howard Payne College Master of Arts, East Texas State College Doctorate of Philosophy, University of Texas ...ss Dr. Rushing hails from Brown County, Texas. His last administrative position before coming to Fort Lauderdale was vice president of Howard Payne College in Brownwood, Texas. Dr. Rushing, his wife and their three children came to Broward County in April, 1960, when he was chosen from sixty-five applicants to be the founding president of the junior College of Broward County. The foundation of this college was completed in August of 1960 by Dr. Bushing, Dr. E. P. Lauderdale, Dean of Instruction, and Mr. Charles H. Bliley, Dean of Student Personnel and Services. In September of the same year, this college was in full operation. XYith much respect and affection, the first students of this junior college have given Dr. Rushing a special title, Great YVhite Father of jCBC, and he is admired by all students for his two-hour-long-five-minute speeches. Under the guidance of Dr. Rushing the junior College of Broward County is becoming one of the finest educational insti- tutions in Florida. The first of the permanent buildings for this college will open in September of 1963. Dr. Rushing, the administrative staff and the faculty have given greatly of their effort and time in the planning of the new campus. The great state of Texas has shared its greatness with Broward County, Florida. l 6 l
